Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted April 26 Paid Members Posted April 26 Just an FYI Doom Spoon, Aleister Black is actually white, so he won’t be able to join The Hurt Syndicate. Quote
westlondonmist Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I don't really understand why AEW would sign Crews full stop. He doesn't bring anything. Quote

My timeline is so messed up because the last thing I remember he did was that gimmick where he had Commander Assez or something with him. But that genuinely felt like a decade ago or something (when it was probably 3 or 4 years back. Feuded with Big E. What else did he actually do? I remember him more from his PCW dates pre WWE when he'd come out to Dschinghis Khan. Quote

It was a suggestion based on nothing more than him looking the part of a big man and thinking where, on my limited knowledge outside of AEW wrestlers, he might fit in with a group of other big guys. I dont watch TNA so wouldn't know if he has a natural fit there so it's based on my limited understanding of who from WWE could go elsewhere. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted April 26 Members Posted April 26 Hmmm, think some of you are being a bit harsh on Tim Chutney to be honest, bit dickish behaviour. Anyway announce Seth Rollins contract expiry. Quote

That pretty much makes you a TNA main eventer. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted April 26 Paid Members Posted April 26 Crews was fantastic in Dragongate before he went to WWE. He never seemed to show that same level of positivity and enthusiasm that he conveyed in Dragongate in his WWE run. Whether that's a case of the pond been to big for him or the WWE been to racist or a mixture of both it just never really happened. Quote

The question for Crews in AEW is whether Tony Khan is as big on Dragon Gate as he is about people who used to be in ROH. Though Crews had a decent run in NXT black & gold, which might mean he’s in. I can’t see him getting a big “it’s him!” surprise pop if he turns up in AEW, but it could be one of those ‘something to prove’ signings that works out quite well once he’s settled in. I wouldn’t mind it (aside from the fact AEW already has far too many people on the roster) Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted April 26 Paid Members Posted April 26 Do we get the return of Uhaa Nation now that Apollo Crews has been released? He could do OK in RoH, freshen up the X Division in TNA, maybe? Quote
Merzbow Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Tony was almost definitely a Dragon Gate tape trader, was probably at the infamous six man match at ROH. Could see Apollo as an ROH champ level guy with the odd AEW appearance. Quote
Cannibal Man Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) Uhaa Nation was so good before these stupid bastards got hold of him and turned him into no fucker. I wish him good things and it'd be nice to see him touring around the world again smiling and doing fucking mad flips. Edited April 27 by Cannibal Man Quote
BrodyGraham Posted April 26 Posted April 26 The stories going round at the time were that Uhaa Nation was a massive priority signing for WWE and his initial NXT run certainly seemed to indicate that. Wasn't there a rumour that the reason Willie Mack got signed to developmental was that they signed the wrong big flippy black guy in the same vein as signing Hunico before they realised he was the wrong Mistico and inviting Adam Cole to a try out instead of Xavier Woods because their first names are both Austin? But yeah, if there's anything left of that promise I reckon he's a good pickup for someone, even if he just kills it on the indies for a bit. Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted April 26 Paid Members Posted April 26 His name was Uhaa Nation and they rebranded him Apollo Crews? Fuck me that's a downgrade and half. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted April 26 Paid Members Posted April 26 (edited) I know it’s tradition to eulogise everyone who gets released from a WWE contract and talk about how great they could be in AEW, but was Apollo Crews ever actually good? For example, can anyone name their three favourite WWE matches featuring Apollo Crews? Digging into his Wikipedia, it appears he’s been in WWE for over a decade, wearing both the Intercontinental and United States Titles, and yet, gun to head, I genuinely couldn’t tell you a single match he’s had that’s left a single memory in my mind.
