I'm not biting on that, but do you know who would make sense, Garth? Jeff Cobb. Big, strong, middle aged bloke with legit credentials and an already established history of being about the money (He had the hired mercenary gimmick early on in AEW). Dunno what he looks like in a suit though. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted May 3 Posted May 3 "Restructure" is almost certainly just corporate speak for take a paycut, isn't it? Quote
Paid Members Statto Posted May 3 Paid Members Posted May 3 To their upfront/guaranteed money, almost certainly. Some sort of "we'll pay you less per year but over a longer period so you've got job security, honest" or "we'll pay you less but you could maybe make more off merch/performance bonuses", trying to sell it like both those things aren't entirely in the company's control/favour. Paid Members RedTwoster Posted May 3 Paid Members Posted May 3 Good for them, if that’s the case. WWE has seriously underestimated their value to the company, and it goes beyond the on-screen. If the message to your wrestlers is you have no loyalty to an act like that, why should anyone have loyalty to you? It’s so short-sighted, and may well result in bigger names jumping to AEW in the future, in the hope of fairer pay and job security. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted May 3 Paid Members Posted May 3 Seems pertinent that despite previously being advertised for loads of Raw dates in June, Roman Reigns is no longer listed and has been removed from all the promotional material. Quite funny to think about TKO asking Big Rome to, “restructure,” his deal and he responds, “sure, now restructure my Summer schedule.” Suddenly seems likely he might be dropping the belt to Jacob at Backlash. With Roman rolling out of there until Royal Rumble. Cowabunga, you cheap bastards! Quote

They should absolutely not make Dynamite a longer show, no matter how many people they sign. Quote

This way, he can showcase to potential new signings, and the current roster, that AEW is the place to be. We dont need another show longer than two hours. Quote
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted May 3 Paid Members Posted May 3 They don't make TV shows longer just to fit more guys on, that's not how it works. Quote

My impression is they want to rinse WWE for every dollar they can in as short a time as possible to offset the debt they have from UFC then probably sell both off when convenient and most profitable. Doog Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Whilst I get the argument about loyalty etc, i think Kofi and Xavier going is in the best interests of both them and the company. Kofi has been in WWE nearly 20 years now and is beyond stale, there's only so much you can change a character to try and reinvent them within the same company, but really hes had multiple tag title runs, IC and US Title, and had a run as WWE Champion. He's also been paid to hang around with his mate the last few years, what more can you really do with him? It's why having two major companies around is so great, you have your time in one, then can move to the other if you still have something to offer and reinvent yourself there, in front a new company with fresh match ups and angles to work. It doesn't always have to be seen as a fumble or big bad TKO, its just the natural order of things. We've had threads before where we've said about talent that would benefit from going to AEW from WWE or vice versa, its definitely a great thing to be able to do. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted May 3 Paid Members Posted May 3 Most surprising thing has been the shocked reaction to all this. This is exactly what TKO did with UFC. Rinsed it, sacked all the legends that were promised lifetime employment, left it an empty, soulless shell. I went from watching everything the UFC put out, flying to events, to watching almost nothing. I couldn’t even tell you who the Champions are. For all the chat about Hunter wanting to be Dana White, he seems to be getting his wish. Big bald MAGA goof, presiding over a sinking ship. Optics and fan loyalty through the floor. Quote

Despite all this, in the summer of last year they signed a 7 year deal worth a Billion per year. In terms of their plan, it was perfect. That's why they will keep doing it with WWE and will still sign an insane TV deal when its up for offer next time. @Ralphy Unfortunately this is an era where the actual talent mean as little as they have ever done. Nothing WWE ever do, with regards to how they treat their talent, will have long term negative affects, its just not how the business works. You seem to be obsessed with what WWE is doing can lead to AEW becoming bigger. The reality is, it never, ever will be. Doesn't matter how well they treat their wrestlers, or how many talent WWE release, they will never be on WWEs level Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted May 3 Paid Members Posted May 3 Seth Rollins currently banging on Nick Khan’s door, begging to take a voluntary contract restructuring for the good of TKO. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted May 3 Paid Members Posted May 3 It’s obviously just fantasy based on the possibility Roman has been asked to lower his price but imagine he New Days them and fucks off? As good as the likes of Punk and Cody are, Reigns is their Hogan. If he left, whether that be to go into films or AEW or just sit at home doing nothing, they’d be absolutely dead in the water. During Wrestlemania they dropped a disgusting stat something like he’d main evented the last like 10 Wrestlemanias. Nobody even liked him for about 7 of them! Insane to build your company up on one guy like that and possibly try and con him out of money. Quote
