We actually don't need any wrestling shows longer than 2 hours, let alone another ,on TV/streaming anyway. A couple of 2 hour regular shows and a monthlyish 3.5 to 4 hour PPV is the sweet spot for me.

It’s obviously just fantasy based on the possibility Roman has been asked to lower his price but imagine he New Days them and fucks off?

As good as the likes of Punk and Cody are, Reigns is their Hogan. If he left, whether that be to go into films or AEW or just sit at home doing nothing, they’d be absolutely dead in the water. During Wrestlemania they dropped a disgusting stat something like he’d main evented the last like 10 Wrestlemanias. Nobody even liked him for about 7 of them! Insane to build your company up on one guy like that and possibly try and con him out of money.

I actually think they're in a much better position to cope without him now compared to some of his run. Especially considering he's done part time off and on for years now. I'd be really surprised if the company crumbled without him. Obviously I get that they've invested a huge amount of time and money into him but I'm not convinced he's that essential to them that the business lives or dies with him.

I would say the company is in a much better position because of him though. Let’s imagine he left at the start of the TKO merger as that’s as set in stone moment rather than a random amount of years ago. His most recent Wrestlemania he beat Cody Rhodes and by the grace of god somehow didn’t kill him dead because they built to a rematch. With no Roman from September 2023 it kills Cody’s Rumble to Mania run, you don’t get the Cody payoff and he doesn’t become a huge star. You don’t get the Bloodline payoff, or the recent Punk run either. It’s not hard to imagine Cody doesn’t get as over, and Punk while still over has no star to face at Mania either and is probably going to face Seth Rollins or Drew or someone else that simply just isn’t Roman.

Obviously that’s using the TKO merger as a starting point but you could do it really at any time in the last decade. Without Roman there, who steps up? Who becomes their Hogan? I can’t picture anyone else doing that, and the ones I possibly could like Cody, were made by Reigns.

He leaves WWE now and there’s nobody to carry that torch after him, that is such a worldwide star. Cena is gone, Punk is too old, Cody has had his moment and there’s not much further he can go without a big changeup. Who’s drawing those big money crowds to places like Saudi? It’s not gonna be LA Knight or Seth Rollins.

I’m not saying they’d never recover but it’s not hard to see how easy they could just die off for a while. They did it when Hogan left, did it when Rock and Austin left, and they’ll likely do the same when Roman leaves. The fact Roman was there at all was likely the only thing kept a load of the Cena fans about after he left too.

Was going to make a joke about Kevin Owens (The Big O) now having to carry on the lineage of The New Day, but then it occurred to me.

41 years old. Injured for over a year. They wouldn’t, would they? Sacking someone as beloved as Big Kev when he’s out with a broken freakin’ neck? It’d be optics suicide!

And yet I wouldn’t be shocked at all.

Are WWE contracts still as shite as always? Because the whole 'mutual agreement' thing sounds like TKO asked them to take a pay cut, they declined, so TKO basically told them they would release them ASAP, but out of respect they can agree to part ways and end the contract. Because otherwise, surely they would decline the restructured deal and just carry on with the deal they signed. Can't see them being so offended by the new offer that they would just want to leave immediately.

I'd imagine they're worse under TKO who are well known for the worst contracts in UFC and now Zuffa Boxing.

It came up again during a recent press interview with Becky Lynch that WWE talent are still organising and paying for their own rental cars and hotels, whilst AEW management sorts all that out for their wrestlers. Sounds like such a pain in the arse for the WWE guys.

Combine that with the fact that AEW at least honour the deals they sign and keep talent for the entirety of the time agreed upon. I can’t think of many instances of AEW firing people one year into a three year deal, or binning them off whilst they sit at home injured.

If the pay is in any way similar, I can’t fathom choosing to work for WWE rather than AEW right now. You’d have to either be guaranteed a top spot, or be a brainwashed Fed Head. Or both; Seth Rollins.

I suppose it's if you want to see if you can make it to the top, or go to WWE because nowt much is happening for you in AEW and you can perhaps come back in three years stronger.

I suppose a big issue is if WWE pay goes down, what's the incentive for AEW to pay more.

Roman has suddenly been 'un-announced' for all the shows he was previously advertised for in June. Could it be that it's a 50% pay cut because he's also taking a 50% dates cut?

Anyone who takes anywhere near a 50% pay cut is mental

I remember being on site a few years back working on price, and a few plots in we were asked if we'd have a look at the prices and see if we'd come down a bit, bearing in mind the price per each stage of the build was, and still is, standard for brickwork.

We picked our tools up and fucked off, sorry to go on a tangent off-subject but pro wrestler, tradesmen, or corporate, if someone tries to take the piss like that then on principle alone you should be out the gate.
