Am I naive to think Cody is going to put Ogogo over massively at the pay per view? I know a lot of Cody’s feuds the past six months or so have been dreadful, his character is a complete mess, and that “America is so great I can even have a mixed race child!” promo was hilarious, but when it comes to putting over new talent in AEW he’s got a pretty stellar record. From MJF, to Brodie Lee, Darby Allin and Jade Cargill, his heart does seem to be in the right place when it comes to creating new stars for the company.

Plus, isn’t Ogogo a bit of a pet project of Cody’s? I’m fully expecting a Stars ‘n Stripes, Apollo Creed-style murder next Sunday. Let Cody go on his Paternity Leave with a bang. If he dies, he dies.

I hadn't considered that Cody would win at all. If you want a Cody win, you use one of the other guys from that stable who can take a loss. If you're putting Ogogo in that position then he wins. It's not even like Cody thinks he has to go over. He's done the job at the right time throughout AEW.

They're absolutely doing the full boxing pageantry at DON, Cody wearing the stars and stripes robe and surrounded by the million-and-one members of his Family, all primary colours and pyro, and Ogogo in heel grey and black with the Factory scrubs and QT in his Sopranos getup. However, the Austin Gunn match was exactly the way I'd have wanted a non-one-punch Cody match to go, and now that's happened, I can't see it being a retread or a repeat of Ogogo's earlier matches. I wonder if it's going to go longer, maybe 10-15 minutes of Cody getting dropped then having more and more of the Family tell him to stop getting up. Perhaps we get a heavily-pregnant Brandi hobbling down the aisle in tears to repeat the MJF lashing visual.

There’s Dustin holding Cody’s lifeless body, wishing he’d thrown the towel in sooner. Dustin vs. Ogogo headlines an episode of Dynamite a month or so later.

“It's suicide. You've seen him, you know how strong he is. You can't win!”

How much do you reckon it’ll cost to get the rights to, “No Easy Way Out”?

On a different subject, what do we reckon the chances are on Paul Wight being the Joker in the Battle Royale? He’s all over the advertisement as the special guest commentator. I’d love it if the countdown ended with a, “WELLLLL...” and a shot of Paul’s big, grinning face.

Cody and Ogogo has to be made into a flag match doesn't it? That's the easiest way around any issues because Cody can retrieve his flag first, the yanks in attendance can all chant USA USA USA, then Ogogo can belt Cody one on the jaw, break it in storyline and give Cody his reason to be off screen for a few months while he becomes a father. Though they probably don't need an excuse for that since they've already told us he and Brandi are expecting.

I still want Sting to turn on Darby and those two have a feud because I think it'd be the best way to get a match or two out of Sting at this point. We believe Sting can't take too many bumps at this stage of his career so let him be the dominant one in a match and throw his opponent around for a bit and that's exactly where Darby excels, as the babyface who is getting battered from pillar to post. Culminating in a match that Sting's career hinges on and of course Darby wins so he can say he's the man who retired Sting. I just don't think I want us to get there via Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page, who has one of the worst nicknames I've heard - All Ego But No Talent.

Inner Circle v Pinnacle is a slog already. I can see it going to the third match with the stipulation of whoever loses has to disband and it being a Survivor Series type match. And the inner Circle probably getting the win because the Pinnacle really don't feel needed. MJF was at his best as a knock-off Million Dollar Man. FTR are good in the ring but grim as fuck out of it and Spears needs chucking. The split between Wardlow and MJF is the only thing that is highly anticipated within The Pinnacle for me.

Tag Team and Women's divisions continue to improve on almost a weekly basis. If, as expected, Baker wins the title at Double or Nothing then surely Kingston and Moxley win the Tag Title because they can't have every championship held by a heel at the same time. Although it feels far too early to be taking the titles off the Bucks.

Miro and Archer will be a nice change of pace from the sort of TNT Title matches Darby has given us over the last few month. Two big bastards kicking the shit out of each other. From where he was just a few months ago to now, Miro hasn't half turned it around. Has Sabian gone for a kip or is he out injured?

Kenny has to be keeping the title. Cassidy is starting to wear a little thin on me now but PAC is still fucking boss. After Double or Nothing, Cassidy can back floating around with the Best Friends but PAC will need something a bit more meaningful. A Battle Of Britain with Ogogo possibly? And Kenny will continue in the same vein that he has thus far. His reign as champion doesn't feel that exciting.

Hangman against The Machine feels like it's there to keep both men out of the Casino Royale. While it's got some backstory, it doesn't feel like any real attention has been paid towards it. Why has Taz agreed to a rematch for his client when it's his man who's already beaten Page? It'll probably be a good match and a good aftermath, especially if Cage wins again and Hangman's doubts come back stronger than ever. But it still feels as an excuse to keep them out of the Casino Royale. Speaking of which, none of the names in it feel appropriate to be facing Omega for the World Title at this point.

The PPV looks cracking to be fair. The only match I'm not arsed about is Miro vs Lance. Miro is boss but Lance has been badly overexposed for me. Drifting between heel and face, going 10 minutes with scrubs every other week on Dark and having Jake cut rambling promos for him has killed the aura he has this time last year.

Ogogo's doing alright isnt he? as a boxing fan im interested to see how he does. When he signed with AEW i expected nothing to come of it, seems he's doing well though despite his inexperience.

I liked the segment with Jericho and Malenko in the back.

If they come to Manchester can we get Moxley to come to the ring to Frank Sidebottom's Wild Thing (in Timperley)?

Santana and Ortiz are so good.

Red Velvet being from "straight out of your mama's kitchen" explains why she comes to the ring wearing an apron. Serena Deeb is great, though.

Ogogo's music reminds me a bit of Red Right Hand by Nick Cave.

The Varsity Blondes are a really fun team. I was a big fan of Brian Pillman, and sometimes Brian Jr will do something in the ring the exact same way his dad would. Garrison has a bright future as well. He's got a great look and would fit into almost any roster. The Bucks beat them too easily though, especially if they're meant to be the number one ranked tag team in AEW.

Presume that's a deliberate thing as RRH is the Peaky Blinders theme, innit?

(Without wishing to come across as one of those "never seen an episode, mate" types, I've... never seen an episode, but my band plays RRH and people started shouting "Peaky Blinders!" and the like.)

Red velvet is also the name of a cake. A beetroot and chocolate concoction I believe.

Great show again this week. It's all building nicely to Double or Nothing.

Although Statlander fits nicely with Best Friends and Julia Hart goes well with Varsity Blonds, wouldn't it be better to have the women build factions within their own division?

I'd prefer that over being from some place I've never heard of. Stuff like that, OC's wherever-whatever and Mox's "Fighting out of-" are all nice little touches that add to the presentation. Seems criminal that they didn't have anything high profile ready for Velvet after her good work stepping in for Brandi. And yes, this was an NWA title match, but it felt like a one and done deal rather than a culmination of any arc. Keeps her in and around titles which is good though. Deeb is brilliant, the Hitman of the women's division in the best way, having crackers with anyone you put her in there with. Thinking about it, Deeb vs Baker down the line could be stellar.

Loved Malenko. "You've still got 4 on me." Daww, shucks. Great to see him looking good after hearing about him being poorly.

Awful lot of people calling each other and themselves bitches, and threatening to kill each other or themselves too. It's only wrestling, guys, calm yourselves.

He's got Parkinson's, he hasn't been poorly. He's managing with it at the moment though. He spoke in depth about it on Jericho's podcast. Worth a listen, seems like a great bloke.

You could also see with his movements in that segment he had Parkinson’s. He was visibly shaking.

Had a check on TV Guide to see how ITV4 are handling the move in the states to Friday night due to the NBA playoffs.

Countdown to DoN will be on Saturday Night at 10.50pm.

The go home edition of Dynamite won't be shown until 3 days after the PPV, Wednesday 2nd of June at 11pm.
