That’s just their ceiling. They need the Bullet Club/Elite stuff more than anyone. It's the only way they manage to stay relevant/cool, although it's quite surprising as they do seem pretty funny on their own. I don't know why that doesn't really translate on-screen all that much. Match-wise yeah, they've not really got a whole lot going for them, although I've always thought Gallows was a fairly decent big man. I enjoyed that Festus/Undertaker match years ago. Paid Members FelatioLips 2,403 Posted January 16 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 16 The Good Brothers are like a team of Christian and Matt Hardy. They both feel like the worst person in their team, it just happens to be the same team.
Paid Members LaGoosh 2,355 Posted January 16 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 16 I think the problem is that for a team who look like bruisers that they don't actually really wrestle like proper bruisers. They should just be clobbering the shite out of people. Instead they are just...there.
Merzbow 3,284
I loved their silly little PPVs and what they do outside of the ring but the moment they do something serious.. fuck I hate them. Gallows is a shit boring big guy compared to others near his size, got a great look and can pull off a gimmick really well tho. Anderson is just vanilla.
Paid Members Nick James 644 Posted January 17 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 17 Whether it was AJ or Balor in WWE or Omega now, Gallows and Anderson are just professional coattail riders (I won't comment on NJPW as I don't have enough knowledge of their act there). They are good for an initial pop, like when they arrived in TNA, but following that, they are just boring. As mentioned, take them out of a wrestling setting and they are hilarious, but they just can't translate it to TV.
danlewis 138
It’s weird to think but, even in ring, Gallows probably peaked as Festus didn’t he?

Yep. His best ever match was a 4 minute sprint against Vladimir Koslov on a random Smackdown over ten years ago.

Since then, he's been coasting and seemingly happily so. He clearly loves hanging out with and working with his mates, but there's nothing you can do with him that you couldn't with a dozen other more interesting characters. I think Gallows looks the business, and would be a great addition to the (my imaginary) AEW super heavyweight hoss division, alongside Butcher, Archer, Luchasaurus, Hobbs and Cage. His big burly biker look is distinctive, he can talk and throw bombs. Plus there's the chance he gets conked on the head and goes full on Sex Ferguson, doling out cowboy boot-clad big boots while complaining how all the young ingrates on the roster never rode a two week ferry to work 17 years down Puerto Rico way. The 6 man was a classic example of the danger of everyone being mates. Out of those three, it was Anderson who should've been embarrassed by the noobs, while Gallows and especially Omega should've been battering them with greatest hits and posing to boos. The rest of the show was good, dedicated to the secondary angles. PAC vs Kingston was great as expected, only let down by the fact I have no idea what is going on with Archer's involvement. Miro making Chuck his young boy could be fun, but likely won't be. The wedding prep should have been front and centre this entire angle, with Miro scrambling to lay on the best wedding as Best Man, but instead it's been niche gamer shit, bad tracksuits, and Miro doing a Jekyll and Hyde monster routine. FTR vs Jurassic Express was fun but too long. The start was great and the finish made sense, but there was a 5 minute section in the middle of unnecessary moves under the guise of heat building. Wheeler has apparently run out of Icy Hot. Cage vs Darby was a great main, plunder madness and ludicrous strength spots. I assume Cage's incredible record has been doctored or padded by Dark matches, because it doesn't feel to me like he's won a match. Sting's involvement as equaliser made sense, and Starks sold like a pro. I do wonder what the pay off is going to be, though. One of Allin's hooks is that he perseveres and overcomes on his own, so having Sting as backup feels like it could undercut his aura if it goes on too long. I also would like more of a distinction between the TNT and World title criteria. When Cody was going his TV title thing, that made sense, being 'the face of the network', added intrigue for whoever held it, and singled it out as the midcard 'workrate' belt. As is right now, it's just another prop interchangeable with any other singles title. Also, top marks for Wardlow's eyebrow raise when adjusting his tie and suit cuffs, after Jericho called the IC "sexy hooligans."Â Edited January 17 by CavemanLynn
Yakashi 616
Gallows and Anderson are as dull as omega is fabulous in this new role. That’s the whole problem with this story. Impact just feels like it’s full of either ex wwe geeks or geeks that wwe don’t care about. I mean, outside of the fact it would probably be a good match, who could possibly care about Kenny vs rich Swann? Imagine if this was the TNA of a decade ago. I know it gets made fun of, but it was still a million times better than this as far as stars goes. It’s credit to Kenny and Don that I’m still fairly interested in it. They’re both just fantastic, even if the story isn’t keeping up.  I can’t really blame AEW either. It’s not like there are any other companies out there to work with so it’s making the best of what they’ve got. This should benefit Impact a lot but I can’t see what AEW can get out of this. It seems pretty one way.

Paid Members Chris B 4,471 Posted January 17 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 17 Bit belated, but I enjoyed Dynamite a lot this week. It wasn't at the level of some of their biggest shows, but there was plenty there to enjoy. The main event was really good, and I have no idea what's going on with the Young Bucks. I don't know if Red Velvet has it yet, but she's been watchable so far. Having seen a few people complain that the Sting stuff is getting samey - it's weird seeing how wrestling has changed. Can you imagine the flack Sting in the rafters would be getting by now? And would we be complaining that Austin and McMahon hadn't had a blow-off yet? Personally, I liked it - the bat shots looked good, and after weeks of him standing there, the sudden action was fun.

Chili 311
New BTE is up. That 24/7 belt thing they do on this is top fun. Well worth it for Orange Cassidy completely losing himself at John Silver being weird.

Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay 9,124 Posted January 18 Paid Members Report Share Posted January 18 Have the Good Brothers ever been any good as a tag team? I dont think they've had many good matches in the 7 years they've been together. It's like Karl Anderson carried his team with Albert, but now there are two Alberts.
