Just flying back from Belgium after an unexpected trip for a conference, and jeez, how is everyone over there not over 30 stone? Everything is either deep-fried or pastry.

Did tuck into some frituur whilst there where they dollop half a tonne of whatever topping you choose (I went with a mix of mayonnaise and curry ketchup). Didn’t get around to sampling a bicky burger though, so one more for the glue factory.

Apologies if the above breaks thread protocol - but I bestow my highest recommendation for this scintillating assortment from The Old Neptune in Whitstable (Kent coast). Absolutely bloody spectacular. 

Good old-school boozer as well right on the beach itself dating back to the 19th century. Bit cramped inside but they take bookings and if you don't mind a sea breeze then there's loads of space outside. We got ridiculously lucky with the weather. Top weekend. 

Was all going fantastically until we left - 20 minutes from home, the A2 was closed off. 90-minute detour. Fuck off.

I proposed to my now wife on the beach just down by the Old Neptune, its a great little spot.

However, if you wanted to be on brand for this thread, a 2 min walk away is VC Jones - arguably the source of the greatest Chippy Tea I've ever had. Proper old school chippy with a sit down dining room in the back. Highly recommend.
