Paid Members Jazzy G Posted December 15, 2022 Paid Members Posted December 15, 2022 I installed that Marvel Snap on my phone the other day. It's a little card battling type thing. Your cards have an energy cost from 1-6, and a power cost, and some of them have special abilities that either activate when they get flipped, or stay in effect for the whole game. Every turn you get 1 energy, so on the first turn you have 1 energy, 2 on the second and so on. The game lasts 6 turns. You get three locations on the board to play your guys, and each of the locations also has a different effect, it may be that every character there has their ability doubled, or you're not allowed to play anything there on a certain turn, there are a lot of different mechanics and abilities. All your characters' power amounts get added together as the game goes on, and after all 6 turns have been played the side on each location that has the highest power wins that location. Whoever wins at least 2 locations wins, but if there's a tie (ie two teams with the same power in one location) then your total power gets aggregated as a tie-breaker. Winning gets you in game currency which is used to make your cards look prettier. You also earn gold, albeit pretty slowly, and can use that to buy new cards with variant art etc. There's a season pass thing (free and paid), but there's also an experience thing you gain every time you level up one of your cards, which is always done for free, and allows you to unlock more cards. Your decks are made of 12 cards, the games are short, but quick. I think you play a combination of bots and real people. Looks like they have events as well. It doesn't feel unfair. I'm not feeling any pressure to pay any money into the game as I know as long as I keep winning I'll be able to get new cards. It's a fun little distraction. Quote

So far it's fun enough but doesn't feel as fast paced as the previous 3, I'm rolling out the way way to hit and run more than I expected. The little lad constantly shouting nisa or something has already got on my nerves too. A bit further in and it's great fun, however my main issue is the lad again. Specifically how quick he's giving hints. It's a great idea to have him be the subtle hint for puzzles if your stuck but a few times he's spoilt a puzzle before I've even started thinking about it and I'm exploring the area. Quote
Paid Members hallicks Posted December 16, 2022 Paid Members Posted December 16, 2022 I think we’re finally going to take the plunge on a Switch for Christmas. Is it worth paying the extra for the OLED model? People with kids, is it worth paying the extra for the family online subscription to allow multiple profiles? Quote
Paid Members PunkStep Posted December 16, 2022 Paid Members Posted December 16, 2022 I don't think it works out to be much more if you get a family online subscription. I think it cost me about £25 for the year to do it? Main reason I got it is to cloud save our games (plus the SNES games), because if you have to send the Switch in for repair, you can kiss your save files goodbye. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Definitely worth the family pass. My Switch is goosed and I’m waiting for new Zelda to replace it but only if I can get my hands on an OLED model barring them not releasing a new iteration any time soon. Quote

The King Of Swing Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 (edited) So I just reloaded my Assassin's Creed Odyssey save and find out that they added a new (well I think it came out ages ago but I must have missed it) quest line. I swear it's like I'm destined to never stop playing this game. Edited December 18, 2022 by The King Of Swing Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted December 19, 2022 Paid Members Posted December 19, 2022 (edited) Started playing Death Stranding this morning and very, very confused. The opening felt like Hideo Kojima had recently enjoyed a holiday in Iceland so just decided to make a game about it. There was then about 95 minutes of convoluted cutscenes with about ten different insane concepts thrown in and Guilermo Del Toro popping up. My first actual mission is carrying a corpse up a mountain. The corpse is also my Mum and the last President of America, of course, who has marked me with some kind of black hand print. If I don't burn her up the top of a mountain she will turn into some kind of invisible undead ghost or something? And because for some reason the corpse is on my back in a seated position (rather than a clearly easier firemen carry) I am stumbling to my sides constantly and trying not to fall over the whole time. I am utterly baffled. Everything about it is insane. Edited December 19, 2022 by LaGoosh Quote

Paid Members CleetusVanDamme Posted December 24, 2022 Paid Members Posted December 24, 2022 Evil West was a good time! Faster paced Gears meets Red Dead: Undead Nightmare. Pure action, little fat, didn't outstay its welcome. We need more B games like this. Try it when it's inevitably on Game Pass or PS+ soon. I was trying to resist playing Dead Space again in between The Callisto Protocol and its remake, it might be overkill, but I'm weak. Up to chapter 6. It's still close to perfect (fuck the asteroid shooting part!). Like Resi 4 it just nails that satisfying combat/upgrade/combat/upgrade loop. I hadn't forgot how scary the game was in general, but holy shit I definitely forgot that the anti-gravity bits could get me, the lack of sound and things just scuttling behind me without warning, nope! A great contrast to all the screaming and crazy violin strings inside the ship. It's horror gaming royalty. I noticed 2 has FPS boost supported too. It would be pretty disrespectful to ignore it immediately after this, right? Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted December 25, 2022 Members Posted December 25, 2022 Kids got a Meta Quest 2. Youngest has been absolutely desperate for one, and is happy enough. Think it's a load of old shite myself but happy to take recommendations Also got them Stardew Valley on the Switch and that's gone down a treat. Bought it from reviews on here, so cheers all. Quote

Blade and Sorcery and Beat Saber are great if you can mod them but pretty basic otherwise. Quote
