Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted June 12, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted June 12, 2021 (edited) El Barto made me laugh my head off, but wasn't that Sammy? I did watch it live so I may have got it wrong, I just remember loving all of it. Edited June 12, 2021 by Shy Dad

I actually really enjoyed that match and felt like the only thing I'd fault it for was Christian completely no selling the arm in the finish. When the whole story of the match is whether or not Christian can hit the killswitch after having had his arm worked the whole time, they couldn't have cut the balls off the match much more than to not only have Christian hit it comfortably, but to hold it for an extra few seconds to mug at Matt Hardy. That's supposed to be the kind of shit that Christian's supposed to be trying to iron out of the young guys. Gave me 'Lol TNA' vibes to be honest. Hobbs and especially 10 looked ace in that. Hangman & Dark Order celebrating with beer and sodas to end the show. Might as well have done a freeze frame and put a 'Produced by Tony Khan'. Really liked that ending. 'EL BARTO'. Well done Ortiz. 10 is one of my favourite people in ring in AEW. He’s so much fun to watch. I’d love to see him take on Miro next. And speaking of Miro, I loved that match with Evil Uno. Miro cuntily waving at the Dark Order and -1 as he held Uno on his submission hold was just sublime.
The King Of Swing
Honestly I could do without another "I'm gonna do it for Brodie" match.
Paid Members gmoney Posted June 12, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted June 12, 2021 I thought this was a pretty boring ep, apart from the 6 man. The Inner Circle Steve Austin greatest hits tour is becoming particularly tiresome at the moment.

I don’t mind it at all. It makes sense from a storyline standpoint of course, but in reality I’m sure it means a lot to them all too. It’s still only six months since Brodie’s death, so for me it’s still logical and appropriate for him to be a point of reference. I’d actually like a team from The Dark Order to take the tag titles off The Bucks. The reaction from a live crowd would be a tremendous moment for -1 in particular, and fuck it, I’d love to see it.
Paid Members unfitfinlay Posted June 12, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted June 12, 2021 Miro is the fucking man. He looks like an absolute superstar at the moment. As ropey as some of his booking was, I'm so glad that brought him in they way that they did, which gave him a chance to establish who Miro is, rather than Rusev. This is just the beginning too. He still hasn't wrestled any of the big guns. I can see AEW making some proper money from him in the future. 36 minutes ago, RedRooster said: Isn’t it only the second? I don’t mind it at all. Especially when it's for the TNT Title, which is the Dark Order's only title so far and is something that is closely associated with Brodie's memory. It would've been more jarring if they hadn't brought him up.

Love stuff like that in wrestling. Might aswell say "Angle alert" on it. Not in love with this stuff but the promos were decent. Particularly FTR. Genuinely my favourite thing about AEW is that everyone gets to talk, some sink and some swim. Didn't find it boring. TNT title match was nicely built, delivered and was sold great afterwards. Archer's squash, six man and main event were really enjoyable too. Felt like such a nice moment at the end. They do this stuff so well. Little Andrade promo video was short but sweet. Thought it missed the usual hot opener and I can live without the Nightmare Family stuff. Wanted to hear a bit more from Jungle Boy. I'm well up for a big ten man tag with Kenny, Good Brothers and the Bucks on one side and Eddie, Pac, Penta, OC and Jungle Boy on the other. That's a Dynamite main event and a half right there. I'd have OC or JB pin Kenny too.
CavemanLynn
It's a testament to the work Miro has done that after the match, when Colt and 10 were holding Negative 1 back, I was genuinely panicking about Miro getting his hands on the kid. I thought Christian vs Angelico was surprisingly good. I can get how Angelico's llave style can look weird and off-putting though. This felt like the first proper challenge for Christian, work wise, and he did well letting Angelico do his thing while keeping things in his own wheelhouse. As mentioned earlier, it was just a shame all the good arm work was undone by a troublefree Killswitch. Isn't Rick Steiner's boy called Brock too? That was a spot on observation earlier, about all Cody's angles happening in isolation. It very much feels like Cody and his circle of vets, trainees, and second generationers, and then the rest of the roster. Arn's kid looked like a middle manager on a business trip to a golf retreat. One promo has me sold on the Wingmen. That's all it takes. PAC is the best. He's so fast, he barely touches the mat. I love how effortlessly he does things, especially when he's showing up the Bucks doing their spots better than they do. Nick has proper heel heat, Matt can fuck all the way off. Good to see Alex Abrahantes back with Penta next week - I worried that was a Cody one and done job. I enjoyed the Omega vs Jungle Boy angle. Botchamania references in main event championship angles can do one though. Really hot finish, and they've done a great job setting up Jungle Boy's killer submission. More Archer squashes please. Jake is much more useful laughing his head off at jobbers getting battered than wittering over a live mic. Main event absolutely delivered. A really good showing from everyone involved, a great midmatch angle (although I'm still convinced it's Starks and Cage working together), and a fun feelgood ending. There's definitely a future in 10, but he does need the mask for now. The big eyes and fixed look make him look like a big lunk trying his best. Which, to be fair, he is. Surprisingly handsome too, based on his Insta. Good show all round. Edited June 13, 2021 by CavemanLynn
Vamp
The llave stuff is bollocks to be honest. You can't really wrestle that style unless you're wrestling someone else who knows it, it's not really a style that suits a TV match and Angelico doesn't really wrestle it anyway. It's just a term Excalibur likes.
The King Of Swing
At least it wasn't Jack Evans blowing up after two minutes. Edit. And honestly I have a bit of a soft spot for Angelico and his douchy dancing, if he wasn't in TH2 he'd be a good fit for The Wing Men imo. Some work and I reckon he'd be a fine mid card act. Edited June 13, 2021 by The King Of Swing

He always seemed to be a more rounded and dynamic guy elsewhere, but because they don't really have a submission/grappling specialist they're really pushing that part of Angelico's game, largely so they can say how versatile ex WWE guy X is when they beat him on Dynamite.
