Having a think for any reason why Kenny announced it, I'm guessing they all know they are not getting rid of Moxley anytime soon, and Kenny has the ego that even though the Light's Out match didn't count, it'll still bug him, like how Alex Marvez seems to be cast as this irritation that turns up to annoy him, like he's picked up as a burden for how he won the title. Basically, he could theoretically beat Mox again, but he'll still be there, and he'll still come marching in to kick their heads in. Mox needs to actually be stopped.

I guess from the heels mentality, because Kenny can and has proven he can hurt himself to get his aims, he'll do this in order to get rid of his biggest problem. The nutter ex-champion. Anyway, this is all theoretical and guessing on Mox taking a fucking mental stunt and is off for maternity leave.

Mox has been bringing barbed wire into the fights a few times now, and Kenny's turned it round on him a few times too. I can buy an uber-confident heel Kenny thinking 'Oh, you like barbed wire? Fine, but I'm into Japanese barbed wire matches, where I'll have the advantage".

I think some people are assuming it won't happen because the last time a (relatively) large promotion promised one, with Onita and Sandman in ECW, it didn't happen.

I don’t get where the confusion lies here. Omega literally explained it to Mox right there and then. Mox snuck a rematch clause into the contract, Omega knows Mox always comes back so instead of a straight up wrestling match or less extreme street fight style match, he picked a match with an aim to take Mox out for a long time.

As said above, Omega isn’t a chickenshit heel, he’s massively confident and slimy. It’s not beyond any sort of realism that he would pick this type of match.

Decent enough show

Cody is just trolling these days isn't he.

Mox needs to hit the gym again, I thought it last week but he's looking smaller and a bit doughy.

Some stories need to end or kick into next gear post Revolution, Team Taz/Sting&Darby, Inner Circle, Bullet Club stuff are all good but pacing and knowing when to pull the trigger on an ending, to me has been hit n miss in AEW.

You gotta think Onita and his massive ego are a little pissed, he's wanted a big US exploding deathmatch for decades now, he even had talks with Vince McMahon about having one in the 90's.

I'm looking forward to it, just hoping it isn't overly long and contrived as the unsanctioned match way back. It felt like they tried far too hard to make that an epic match.

I'm honestly half-expecting Onita to muscle in on this somehow.

I don't mind that announcement at all. I actually quite enjoyed the lights out match. As said elsewhere it's not like it was a CZW style match and neither will this be.

I do think that AEW booking it makes a rod for their own backs. They'll never be able to go hard enough for the people who like this sort of thing, but they'll inevitably put off the squeamish.

Good show again this week, although I acknowledge that last segment is gonna be marmitey.

Oh yeah, Cody Rhodes nominating himself as a face of the revolution? Fuck off.

It'll be more like an FMW match, and Excalibur already mentioning the Kawasaki Stadium shows. The drama will be someone eventually going into the wire, lots of dodging and ducking.

The best example of one of these matches is Combat Toyoda's retirement match, probably my all-time favourite deathmatch and it's one of the simplest.

I'm going to wait and see with this Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch. My initial reaction is that it's not going to be something I'll enjoy and like the Unsanctioned match it's going to bring the worst out of both guys. Right now, I'd have much preferred they'd gone with Blood and Guts instead. But who knows? I'm way more invested in both characters and their storyline now than I was when they had that boring torture porn match, so maybe they'll find a way to get me invested. I certainly want to see Jon Moxley get his revenge and beat the shit out of Omega, who's the best dickhead in forever. If any two guys are going to make me want to see people get thrown into barbed wire or exploded into smithereens it's these two in their current form.

Great to have Riho back. I can't put my finger on exactly how she does it, but she's the absolute best female wrestler in either company at building matches to a crescendo and sucking me in until I'm glued to the screen by the finish.

I kept waiting for someone to stop Brian Cage from hitting the Powerbomb on Sting. My heart was in my throat!

LOL at Jim Ross being a bit too nice in complimenting Excalibur on the work he did on that YouTube show. I'm absolutely convinced Jim watched that and realised how redundant he's become and how much better Excalibur is when Jim isn't dragging the mood down or constantly interrupting him.. Dynamite's commentary booth would be significantly improved if Jim simply fucked off forever.

I forgot how bad Jack Evans was, too. That was a rough match.

Adam Page/Matt Hardy feels a little rushed, but I don't hate it. I've got a lot of time for Adam Page.

I'm with @Supremo... When Brian Cage lifted Sting up, I was waiting for the lights to go out, or Allin to appear...or something. Once Sting landed I kept looking for signs he might be legitimately hurt.

Can Brian Cage go? I know i'm turning into a bit of a weird 'look' guy, but he looks the absolute business. I thought Team Taz looked far better as a unit without Starks, who doesn't ever seem to suit the street thug thing.

On paper, the Revolution card doesn't look like it's going to be as hot as previous AEW PPV's, I don't think, but having gone back and watched a lot of their specials.. their talent does seem to find a way of taking it up a gear for the PPV matches.

I like Brian Cage, but he would have definitely benefitted from being a couple of inches taller.

I remember seeing pictures of him before debuing in Impact and couldn't believe the WWE hadn't picked him up.

Then he turned up and it was clear he was no taller and often shorter than some of the established roster, which took away some of his allure.

Apparently he's 6 foot, but you'd have to think he'd have been picked up/kept on by WWE and pushed to the moon were that not the case.
