I stand corrected.... partly!

I didn't realise how early he started with the company. I've had it in my head it was '86. But never mind, that bit I'm wrong on.

Personally, however, I would go from WM7 as his face turn. But, I won't argue with your saying it was his reinstatement as an active wrestler. All interpretive I guess!

Edit: I'm of the opinion he was equally adept at either side of the good guy/bad guy spectrum. I'd edge towards face though, he was my favourite good guy (And probably overall) when I first got into wrestling in '91. So my heart always leans towards the Macho Man as a babyface wrestler.

He was still a heel on commentary for a while after WM7 though. The turn was quite gradual I think.

I watched program on the Network a while back. It was a roundtable discussion type show with the subject being ECW. Heyman, Bubba Ray, Tazz, and Tommy Dreamer were on among others. There was a fair bit of frank discussion and Dreamer, particularly, got quite emotional. Does anyone know the name of the show?

Has Randy Orton been on a full time schedule with WWE since 2002 aye? Aside from the occasional injury lay off?

And if so - is it the longest such run anyone's ever had for them? Obviously people like Triple H and Kane have been there longer but they only wrestle very occasionally now. Randy still wrestles most weeks and was still doing house shows when they were on, right?

Odd one. But I'm curious as to what thickness the plates are on the old 90s WWF title belts. I see a lot of replicas around and those vary in thickness (4mm, 6mm, 8mm). And the Euroshop replicas are awful and not thick at all. Just curious how the thickness of all these compares to the real deal belts.

4mm is the standard thickness for real belts, it has been since Reggie Parks designs became prominent in the 80's.

The weight of zinc sheets used for etching plates produced the best results in terms of etching and weight distribution when attached to leather at 4mm. Anything above that can lead to designs etching being off, (Not by much.) depth perception being misleading and plating looking different/off because how light reflects off them. 6mm tends to be slightly heavier and wears the leather down significantly quicker especially if its just used for display purposes. 4mm is also best for when plates are rolled to give them a slight curve. Too thin and a plate can crack, too thick/heavy and it has to be rolled more which can lead to cracks and stretching/warping.

WWF/E, WCW, NWA/etc from the mid 80's onwards were pretty much 4mm. As processes advanced then experimentation with other materials and plate thickness came into play.

Up until around 2018, most replicas were 2mm and poorly processed. The replicas are made out of cheaper metals and stamp pressed into shape. The elite series range from 2010 until 2018 improved slightly being 4mm but they were still stamped.

Credit to WWE in the last few years they've stepped up their game in regards to replicas, anything from the 2019 range and upwards is of better quality and clock in at around 5mm. The Rocks Brahma Bull belt they did is really good. However the plates are generally hollow on the back to reduce weight/cost and you can see the stamping process in them sometimes.

The 2mm and 6mm stock range is generally flat as a pancake and poorly made, they've still got tons of them left over and are trying to get rid of them under the signature superstar editions (Like the Triple H and Undertaker belts , older replica plates with a wacky "leather" design.) they've been knocking out.

Hope this helps.

Just how good were Doug Furnas and Phil La Fon / Dan Kroffat ??

What was their best match in the WWF during their run there ?

I don't know about the first part, but I'm not sure they had a better night in the WWF than the one they had at Survivor Series 1996. Furnas, LaFon & The Godwinns Vs Owen, Bulldog and The New Rockers was, for my money, the best match they had in the WWF.

Yeah, they’re in that small group who peaked on their first night in the WWF and then quickly fizzled out after for whatever reason. Along with Tazz at the Rumble in 2000 and Scott Steiner at Survivor Series 2002.

  • 4 weeks later...

I have every issue of Powerslam magazine and I think I am missing two issues of it’s pretty-cursor Superstars of Wrestling .

Any ideas of approx how much they would be worth ?

Not looking to sell but it good even to have an approximate valuation ..

I think about 5 issues in total are in “average” condition , otherwise all are in excellent condition .

I always find looking at the "sold" listings on eBay is a good guide.

A quick look there seems to indicate that the first couple of years of PS sell for £10+ (there is a copy of Issue One that sold for £34.99, but that looks on the high side), after that the issues go for anywhere between £2 and £6.

Superstars of Wrestling looks to be just under a tenner an issue, although again can go for more.

Try ebay of course but also try a shop that specialises in Pop culture stuff. There is a shop near me in Birmingham that sells old Power Slams. They would have bought them off the seller to have them in stock
