Covid-19 Megathread

I've felt like shite for a week now, bunged up, no energy and pounding head. Started feeling better yesterday, but had a sweat-drenched sleepless night last night and feel very grim again. I happened to find an old covid test today and took it, and low and behold that's me got it. I'll miss my vague special feeling that I was immune to it.

Sorry to read that, @gmoney. It’s shit, isn’t it? The sweats were the midpoint when I had it so hopefully you’ll be on the way back soon.

I was meant to be in Berlin this weekend for a stag do, but the main man got Covid. Most of us just called it off immediately, some went without him but the biggest takeaway was the number of his mates throwing in the ‘just go anyway’ shout. Their rationale was that he could have a room to himself so it wouldn’t be a problem.

Fucking hell. It’s just being dismissed as a bit of a sniffle now, isn’t it?

Tested positive last Monday morning, spent the whole week on the sofa watching the World Cup. I'm testing negative now so I'm a bit gutted to be returning to work next week.

This was the second time I've had it and the symptoms have been really mild each time thankfully. If it wasn't for others at work testing positive, it wouldn't have really occurred to me that I might have it.

With no social distancing or regular testing going on now, there must be thousands of people out there spreading it about obliviously, just assuming they've got a seasonal cough or sniffle.

Wasn't sure if this was fit for the 'Idiots on reality TV' thread, the 'Tories are cunts' thread or this one. Some bloke just casually talking about Matt Hancock like he just over ordered some staples for the office and wasn't responsible for the way care homes, PPE and most other things were handled.

With idiots like this, there is no wonder that eating a sheep's anus is enough to absolve of all sins. The Tories will rule for years to come, won't they?

Had a bit of a cough and runny nose last Wednesday and Thursday but nothing worth calling in sick for. Took a LFT on Thursday just to be sure which returned a negative result. Woke up on the Friday feeling like death warmed up and told work I wasn’t coming in. Another Covid test later over the weekend which sure enough turned out positive.

We’re all tested daily before we’re allowed into the main bit of the building at work. Anyone with a positive test gets turned away so no point in turning up until I give a negative result at home. Still feeling rough as fuck, but on the plus side I reckon I can get out of the Christmas panto with my wife’s family next weekend, so every cloud and all that.

Whilst I am covid free, I have been incredibly unwell the last couple of days with whatever my youngest had last week and has passed on to me (kids eh? Aren't they wicked!)

Started Friday night after she had been with me most of the week, and just started as a bit of a headache.

Saturday? Fucking hell. As bad as my first day with covid, the pounding head, the uncontrollable sweating, but at the same time being freezing, the coldest I've ever felt in my life.

The day was a write off. I couldn't even stand up without nearly falling over.

Saturday night I felt as though I'd sweated my entire bodyweight in sweat whilst having a hacking cough which had me in tears. 

Sunday, I had the fortune of being bought some food and asked for two bottles of Lucozade (nowhere near as good since they changed the recipe, but still good) which helped, but another day in bed under a very heavy duvet, radiator on 23 (which I really can't afford) with trousers on, two t shirts and a hoodie, fully submerged. But still freezing cold.

Now Tuesday and I still feel rough, very bunged up, can't taste much, ache all over and still freezing and boiling. Feel very unsteady when I stand up still. Haven't had anywhere near the amount of water or calories I should.

It's been rough. It's felt way worse than covid if I'm honest, so maybe I'm patient zero for covid 20. Steer clear of Hampshire lads.

Whilst the initial "peak" of covid was maybe worse when I had it, the subsequent days weren't as bad probably because I've been vaccinated?

I was reading about people having a supercold, with two years of it not being able to get out there, maybe that's what it is. Whatever it is, I don't wish it on anyone.

My ex has had it as well, and has been out to work every single day whilst also managing a household. Fair play, maybe she is built different

I had it a couple weeks ago, headache was banging so bad I could hardly sleep for a few days. Definitely worse than Covid for me too.

One of the COVID enquiries has started this morning in a way that pretty much sums up everyone's pandemic. The chair of the enquiry is in a room on her own, because of Covid I assume and everyone else is on Zoom. The lead counsel for the enquiry started to speak and they have had to adjourn because he can't get the sound on his Zoom to work properly. Close the enquiry now, that's everyone's pandemic in a nutshell.
