wordsfromlee
On University Challenge when someone buzzes, the sound of their name and university being called isn't a pre-recorded soundbite triggered by the buzzer, but is actually said live every single time by the voiceover bloke in the studio. What a noob. I bet you don’t even know if you just say “Mozart” after every music question you’re right at least once a week.

Which absolutely pays off here, as it makes him sound increasingly exasperated every time he says it; Â

Paid Members Carbomb Posted August 25, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 25, 2021 There are a few nursery rhymes with the same tune - Hey, Diddle Diddle, The Cat & The Fiddle and Jack & Jill are the main ones that spring to mind after Twinkle Twinkle and the ABC. Also, not entirely sure if it's exactly the same, but Pop Goes The Weasel and Round And Round The Mulberry Bush start similarly.
Paid Members BomberPat Posted August 25, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 25, 2021 that's fairly common for old folk tunes and popular music - before recorded music, people would sell lyric sheets that would just say "to the tune of...", so that people would be able to sing along with new lyrics to a tune they already knew.
Paid Members chokeout Posted August 25, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted August 25, 2021 I only recently found out that sheet music was like the home video of it's day, with sales at musicals being their big money spinner to take home and relive. It makes perfect sense thinking about it, but just seems so odd in todays world that playing music at home was such a large part of socialising back in the day.
