The Mark Wahlberg film?

No. Invincible is an animated series based on a Image Comics title. Series 3 has recently started on Amazon Prime. It follows the development of a young superhero (Invincible). His father is Omni Man, the Superman type figurehead of a Justice League esque group. The show is quite violent and gory. Not something that can be watched when the kids are in the room. Certainly a different flavour of show to something like Justice League Unlimited. 

JK Simmons voices Omni Man and Michael Dorn lends his distinctive voice to a character called Battle Beast.

It felt like there was an interesting film lurking somewhere in the new Captain America film but you'd have to look hard for it.

The key reference points being The Incredible Hulk and The Eternals didn't help. You're left with a sequel to a 16 year old Hulk movie without the Hulk in it and a movie about the consequences of The Eternals without the Eternals. Nobody has thought about The Eternals since The Eternals.

All of which doesn't help the central lead of the film who doesn't have the charisma of the previous incarnation. 

So you're left with something that's just dull and lifeless. And then afterwards it tries to make you care about the threat of a multiverse saga but it's impossible to care about the current universe.

The trailer for Fantastic Four makes me wish they'd abandon the current Marvel universe and do an alternative 60s one. It feels like the only interesting thing they could do at this point.

How dare you! I think about the Eternals more than any Marvel film since Endgame. I love those guys and it's the only non-Spider-Man MCU thing in the past two phases I've rewatched.

I thought it was decent. I presume they couldn't call The Leader "The Leader" because of the same weird Paramount dealings that prevent them making actual Hulk movies. 

I think it would have been better if we hadn't all known Red Hulk was going to be in it the best part of a year in advance, but it was enjoyable. Superman trailer was good. I marked out when

I enjoyed the Cap movie. It's not the best they've produced, but it's fun, and I think Mackie does a decent job. I particularly like

that they've made him a completely different type of Cap, refusing to take the serum and being more tech-based; he has a lot more limitations as a result, which enables some intriguing scenarios against non-powered enemies.

That said, as someone who was "Marvelled out" by the end of Spiderman: No Way Home, this wouldn't have been the movie I'd have chosen to get back into the MCU. I mainly went because I was meeting up to see a film with a mate, and we just chose it as an easy option. It's fun, but there's nothing standing out about it. It's typical Marvel fare, which now, sadly, has turned the spectacular into the run-of-the-mill. Had this film been made twenty years ago, it would have wowed audiences. As things are, it's pretty by the numbers, which is a shame, because there were some interesting story and character developments which could have been executed better had they gone for a more claustrophobic, close-quarters mystery like The Winter Soldier was.

Even the new Fantastic Four movie doesn't quite excite me as much as it should; I'm loving the 60s aesthetic choice, as it makes a really good change, and it shows a smidge of imagination on Marvel's part in that respect. But I'm not confident it will turn out to be anything more than window dressing. I hope it's the opposite.

Either way, though, I've booted Marvel movies right down my viewing priority list. In general, I've booted franchise movies down the priority list. Overexposure means I'm craving one-offs a bit more, with maybe the odd sequel.

So as a slightly less relentlessly grim retooling of the character, which is an achievement considering the episode 1 cold open, Daredevil: Born Again is a pretty fun watch so far.

I enjoyed it so much that I watched the first 3 episodes of Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man which I'd ignored and to be honest that was a mistake. It's an alternative universe Spidey show and is probably the funnest Spiderman stuff outside of the Spiderverse movies. Hits the right tone and has a lovely Ditko inspired art style.

It's not X-Men 97 but few things are.

I just can't get past that opening, something that should be a powerful 15 minutes is marred by looking so cheap with bad CGI, weak fight choreography and being possibly the worst shot show I've seen in years. I'm not expecting as masterclass of cinematography from Marvel but fuck me, this was pure amateur hour.

I mean, the names themselves are interesting but there was no need for it last 5 hours and I have no respect for anyone who watched longer than 10 minutes once it was clear what was going on (absolutely nothing for most of it).

Random thought I had watching Ragnarok ; there’s a ton of actors that have been in any two of a Star Trek film, a Lord of the Rings film and the MCU (Liv Tyler, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Martin Freeman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Zoe Saldana, Chris Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch etc) but is Karl Urban the only one that’s been in all three?

He's also been in Star Wars, Dredd, and Mortal Kombat movies. And if you're counting Wildstorm as a DC imprint, he's been in a series set in a DC universe too.

Cumberbatch was in all 3 as Khan, Doctor Strange and Smaug.

Andy Serkis needs to show up in some Trek so he can add that to his list along with LotR, Star Wars, Planet Of The Apes, DC and Marvel.
