At least they've moved away from completely ignoring Eternals related stuff. I'd be shocked if we ever got a sequel but a few cameos probably aren't out of the question.

I appreciate that because the character has a name and isn't just "disposable guard character" it feels like it should be important. I apologise for the spoiler, but when you watch it you'll see why I thought it was such an insignificant thing.

It honestly feels like a bit of a "creative has nothing for you" or

"we need somebody to be in these scene for this purpose. Who can we use?"

"How about Taskmaster?"

It's a shame Thunderbolts tanked, as it was a top notch film, I thought. Great performances all round, and a solid story. 

Ironheart, on the other hand, I thought was as average as it gets. Lots of clichéd characters ('hacker' who codes on a laptop and just gets access and disables stuff for the main character when they are trespassing has to be the most lazy and played out character of all time), and a OK main character makes for a pretty dull and uninspiring show. I assume it was made during the 'quantity over quality' phase of tv shows for Disney, too.

The thing with Thunderbolts* was just that-*.

Every time a studio tries to be clever with fans, it fails. Remember when they did everything in their power to deny Khan was in Star Trek into the Darkness? Right from the get go fans were looking at this film with suspicion. It probably didn't help it was a loose sequel for a straight to streaming movie.

 

Looking at the Doom cast, I think Doom is inevitably going to get a mixed reaction because there are so many characters to tie into the story. I have seen about 90% of the MCU (few tv shows and odd movie missing) and even i feel confused looking at fan theories on what the plot will be.

I reckon it will be - Multiverse is colliding with itself, providing something of a distraction to the F4 while Doom makes his grab for power/rule. Kills all the old characters from the X-Men (2000s) squad to establish threat similar to Thanos killing Heimdall and Loki right at the start of Infinity War (with about 10% of the resonance). F4 confront Doom, other heroes from other universes turn up, except everyone’s distracted by the fact the whole of everything is about to be destroyed. A feast of scrambling and attempting to execute a mad plan to save something (Reed’s plan, in all likelihood) involves Doom opportunistically wielding whatever power it is to save what he can and form one remaining reality, averting “doomsday” but ensuring it’s, err, Doom’s day, as he ends up with the power to make the remaining universe whatever he wants, so all his enemies are dead or subservient and he rules as a god, setting up Secret Wars.

If they borrow from the comics, said power to shape a universe could easily be explained by, as the universes collide, an Infinity gauntlet ending up in Doom’s hands from a universe where the stones weren’t destroyed. Although the lack of Brolin among the cast of hundreds means, sadly, Doom won’t be fighting Thanos for it. Or, per the 2015 comic, killing the mad titan by ripping his skeleton clean out.

They can cast anybody as alternate universe Thanos, or even just have a different character in possession of the stones. Hopefully the Multiverse stuff gives us a Marvel Zombies cameo or spin-off, even if it's animated.

The problem they’ve got with Secret Wars, is there are so many multiversal potential things they could do, it’s impossible to not be a letdown when their imagination doesn’t stretch as far as ours. I loved the alt universe cameos in Dr Strange 2 but I’m trying to keep my expectations in check that Secret Wars won’t necessarily introduce live action Miles Morales, SpiderGwen, Evans’ Steve Rogers meeting Bucky from a reality where Barnes is Captain America, Squirrel Girl, a Cyclops that isn’t a total bellend etc.

I think the main issue they have with these Avengers films is that they have a huge bunch of characters from the last few years that people dont really give a shit about. Case in point, there was that leaked picture yesterday with US Agent, the new Falcon and The Thing. Its not exactly like when Thor, Iron Man and Captain America were on screen for the first time, or when The Guardians joined for the first time. No one gives a shit about those, and there seems to be no films between now and then for people to start caring about alot of these b-level movies and TV shows that the films will be featuring.

I didn't think Ironheart was too bad. I watched it all in a day. Fun enough watch, and I thought SBC was really good in his role. Not sure where any of it will go but I thought they ended up making it quite interesting with the finish and definitely has potential to go a few ways, or they might just ignore everything completely. Who knows.
