I left it on in the background and looked at it any time they pumped the music up a bit as at least you knew another name was coming. Although ending with RDJ was a choice. It felt like it was building up to something and then it just ended up with the one guy everyone knew was in it. Quite odd.

I like to think they made RDJ sit and wait through the whole livestream for him to take his seat. 

I assume there’s more casting announcements to come like Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo. I hope we haven’t seen the last of She-Hulk (I think I might be the only person who liked the show) and Moon Knight too. With the inclusion of the X-Men, I wonder if they’ll get Hugh Jackman back one last, last time.

Yeah there's definitely room for a few surprises although I guess they'd want to keep some for the next one. There's no way they'd announce absolutely everyone up front.

Cumberbatch has contradicted himself about whether or not he’ll be in it. As long as he’s in Secret Wars, I’m not sure it matters. Though if Hulk, Spider-Man and the Guardians all sit it out, it looks a bit nWo Stevie Ray.

They’ve probably got too much to live up to for me anyway. How do you compete with Doom making Johnny into the sun and The Thing into the Shield and stealing Reeds kids for himself, Starlord jabbing his Groot toothpick into the World Tree to make a giant Groot, Doom killing both Phoenix-powered Cyclops and Thanos (by ripping his skeleton clean out) before getting distracted by Namor and an Infinity Gauntlet-wielding T’Challa so Reed can lure him into the final confrontation?

The main issue I have is going into this, there's not nearly as much connection with the characters as there was for Infinity War etc.

Obviously as an utter geek I'm super excited to see all these characters come together but from an emotional story perspective it's going to be such a different experience and there's not going to be much they can do to hit the same emotional high points.

Still, if you'd told me 25 years ago I'd be watching Marsden and co in an Avengers movie I'd have laughed my fucking head off, so I'm going to enjoy it for all it's worth.

I finally watched the new Captain America film, and while it was OK, it felt a bit insignificant. I don’t dislike Anthony Mackie, but I also didn’t think he brought anything much to the role - you could have placed any number of Marvel side characters in his place and the story could have played out in more or less the same way. I’d been hoping that he’d make the role his own, or feel more established by the end of the film, but I don’t think that happened. I’m not sure having a new Captain was the best idea.

I enjoyed it more than I expected to. I liked the style of the movie and it flew by for me. But yeah, not exactly one I'd be rushing back to.

Mackie as Cap has pros and cons. I never know whether replacing a character is a good idea, and if it is then would it be better replacing them with someone we already know or someone completely new. I'd probably lean towards not replacing them at all really. I'd rather they worked on existing characters or created new successful ones.

It's always going to be tough to fill the shoes of some of the most significant people in the franchise like Iron Man, Captain America etc. I don't see why they can't just shift focus. It's not like Iron Man was ever one of the most popular characters in the comics but they managed to make him significant with time and effort. The replacement approach is just a bit lazy really. Audiences should be allowed to form new bonds with new faces.

To be fair I think they did try that. They tried pushing Ant Man up the card, tried The Eternals, tried Shang-Chi and his buddies. Most of their films were crap though. 

I think Fantastic Four is the most interesting concept they've had in a long while and a big part of it is that it's set in a different universe.

Probably the Marvel film I've enjoyed the most since the first Iron Man and X-Men films. I thought it was superb.

I can't be arsed with the rest of them these days as they just seem like so much work and effort to enjoy. Those upcoming ones sound like I have to revise to watch it. Sod that.

I’ve given myself the horrible task of watching the entire MCU in order before Doomsday next year. Currently on series one of Agents Of Shield. I’ll enjoy it for the most part until I have to sit through Love & Thunder and Quantumania again. There’s plenty of shows I know nothing about either, like Runaways, Helstrom and Cloak & Dagger. They may not even be considered “canon”, but they’re on my list anyways. I’ll either finish it in time and never want to watch anything Marvel related again, or tap out long before when it becomes too much of a slog.

Yeah I mean it definitely helps if the films are good too. I don't think it's impossible for them to find another breakout character or whatever. They just need better quality control.

Just a bit of self torture, nothing more. Realistically, I won’t get it done. All the films, that’s easy enough. But there’s so many tv shows. And I think I’d lose my mind if I was watching nothing else other than Marvel. I haven’t seen the Punisher, Iron Fist and Defenders shows before, nor anything that came after She-Hulk. I like to give myself these little projects, then abandon them halfway through.

I remember really enjoying Agent Carter, but that was purely down to Hayely Atwell who is fantastic.
