I'm still a bit wary too after Superman Returns then bloody Zack Snyders efforts. I do have a lot more faith in James Gunn though.

As a fellow big lunk with imposter syndrome trying to get by in life, all the Superman bits hit me hard in the feels, so I'm well excited for this. The number of costumed anybodies gets a bit busy, and there's a LOT of camera-whirling and weird swinging close-ups going on, but as a hype reel, it looks really good.

Yeah I'll definitely see it. I just think I'll leave the trailers and stuff alone and go in blind. Hopefully be a nice surprise!

I love it. It doesn't look afraid or ashamed of it's source material in a way that I haven't seen on the big screen.

It's colourful, Rachel Brosnahan looks perfect as Lois, Superman actually saves people's lives as well as fighting giant monsters and you see so much of Superman's wider world, just in the trailer.

The usual edge lords are up in arms online, but fuck em. It's nice to see a trailer for a film that looks like it was made by people who love Superman for people who love Superman.

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to return to this thread. Maybe I was jaded by too many Disney films insisting on a joke a minute by characters that are supposed to be in mortal danger. Maybe Phase 4 left a bad taste in my mouth. But Mrs raid re-subbed to Disney+ on New Years Day so we finally got round to Loki s2 and Deadpool & Wolverine, and debating whether to next watch Falcon & Winter Soldier at last to be up to speed ahead of the Sam-as-Cap film, or Agatha since we both enjoyed WandaVision. Plus I just dug out my Secret Wars TPB to get in the mood for what’s to come. So hey, once more into the breach.

I doubt they’ll bother. There’s enough happened already to provide reasons that universes/“timelines” start colliding and/or being destroyed without muddying the waters with yet another being of unfathomable power. More likely it will be the doing of Kancelled Kang that brings about the threat of (ahem) doomsday for Earth 616.

If you haven't watched it already, I'd skip it. Watched it at the time - it had its moments, but I would have no desire to revisit Erin Kellyman going "But Mama Donya! Mama Donya!" in a Brummy accent over and over again. Terrible actress, terrible villain.

Hey now! I won’t have a word said against Enfys Nest from Solo. And she was very good as Eponine in the BBC Les Mis adaptation a few years ago.

There are a few speculative articles that Chris Evans will be playing either an alternate Hydra Cap, or even the Beyonder himself. Be interesting to see what happens. I still have to watch What If? Season 3 as well.

@air_raid thought Cap/Winter Soldier started slow and it had a lot of a messy production including a storyline change during production due to being too similar to Covid. But it ended well and I think is worth watching to make the new film make more sense. But it's probably not essential. I really liked Hawkeye if you haven't seen it and thought Agetha was pretty good.

Thats the point for me, I forced Mrs raid to watch Miss Marvel so she'd understand who Kamela was when we watched The Marvels. Ironically she enjoyed Miss Marvel but thought the film was a bit mediocre.

We have not watched Hawkeye, might have to watch it eventually so she knows who Bumblebee's mate is supposed to be before we see Thunderbolts. Although THAT is going to be a tough sell considering most of the characters come from Black Widow which she thought was terrible. And to be fair, I wasn't a fan.

Black Widow was very very average. But Hawkeye was a lot of fun. Same with She Hulk. They’re the shows I enjoy most.

Sorry, not a fan. I can tell how she probably got the role - has the vibe of being able to catch attention in an empty drama studio doing a monologue, but doesn't translate for me.

Hawkeye is great - my favourite of their TV shows by some distance.
