The Suicide Squad and the Thunderbolts are their respective comic brands' villain-redemption super teams, there's no point trying to disguise that. But that doesn't mean Marvel can't make a movie about the Thunderbolts. That'd be like saying DC couldn't ever introduce Darkseid as a villain because Marvel got Thanos out there first, even though Thanos was based on Darkseid.

There are always going to be equivalents of each other. There are only so many stories you can tell. It's how it's done that makes it work. It's one of the reasons I think it's a shame that they expended Zemo too early, preventing them from doing the Thunderbolts origin story, which would be fuggin' ace to re-create, especially if they kept all the developments secret from the non-comic book-reading crowd.

Surely there's absolutely no chance of that lot being anywhere near the main characters of an Avengers film? There's at least 10 other bigger characters who will all have bigger roles than this lot.

Plot wise, they could be sent in to deal with Doom by the government, get stomped like the jobbers they are, and then the real main eventers will step in.

I’m not sold on Thunderbolts either, mainly because it strikes me as just another Marvel movie. The same tired humour and the same tired style of dialogue.

At one stage I’d have been interested in a film like that; but they’ve done it too many times now. I’m still of the opinion that the MCU needs an end point, and a complete reset. The damage has been done, and I don’t think it’s an easy fix.

Awful take? They are having the A-List for that,movie, maybe Bucky but that's it. They will reserect Scarlett Witch, bring back Doctor Strange, new Cap America etc, thats the Avengers going after Doom, they will get F4 in as well obviously.

They'll be in the movie regardless. They'll be there to lose, but they'll be there.

Even if the new Captain America gets the typical Marvel 5 or 6 out of 10 reviews, and even with the decent pre sales, I still can't imagine anything other than that only doing a few hundred million total. Seems destined to be one of those films which has the insane drop off from week one to two.

On the flip side, it really shows how much Disney have screwed the pooch on all this. There's been a previous movie and at least one series setting up all the characters in this, and there's absolutely negative anticipation for it. At best, it's a 'maybe it'll be a pleasant surprise'.

It definitely won't be one that runs and runs. It's very much one of those movies that I'm pretty sure people know whether they're going to bother with or not.

It’s a shame because I like the cast but that trailer makes me feel like I’ve already seen it 3 or 4 times. David Harbour was a rare highlight in Black Widow and Florence Pugh is never less than good value. That’s kind of Marvel’s thing, they take something good and interesting and make it bland and Marvel-y. All the interesting director choices and casting in the world won’t make up for the cookie cutter feel. They’re WWE in the HHH 20 minute promo leading to a battering of a midcarder era.

I’m struck down with Covid so decided to give Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man a chance, and so far, I’ve been impressed. It’s really good. It’s doing its own thing with the ‘early year Spider-Man story’ and it’s much better for it. Between Tom Holland, the Miles Morales films, Spider-Man games and this, were spoiled for choice for quality Spider-Man adaptations these days.

The new Captain America film is incredibly average. The new characters are forgettable (hello, Falcon), there’s an over abundance of obvious green screen, Anthony Mackie’s Cap doesn’t have the presence of Chris Evans’ Cap and The Leader looked godawful. The very brief moments of Red Hulk were the highlight, but current Marvel films/tv shows are really testing my devotion to this stuff. Bottom tier MCU film, nestled somewhere around Thor: Love & Thunder and Quantumania. Those expecting a Winter Soldier type film, prepare to be disappointed. Could have been worse though, Seth Rollins filmed some stuff that got cut. Small mercies.
