Paid Members Jazzy G Posted February 11, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted February 11, 2021 Top Secret is great fun. It's no Naked Gun or Airplane, but it's still a good lark.
Chili
I love CV's like that. Not like Frank Welker, who does an animal or a baby in every film ever, but those with utterly mad CV's of work because they were jobbing actors.

Larry Flynt caused enough jizz with his artistic pamphlets and films during his life. Surely he doesn't need the UKFF's own @Thunderplex to fire off a volley in death.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 12, 2021 Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2021 Crazy and prolific jazz composer and pianist Chick Corea has died. One of the greats and also at times completely unlistenable. Of albums released under his own name I'd say The Mad Hatter is probably my favourite. It'd be too hard to pick if I broaden it up to albums he played on as he has been on too many bonafide classics. Bitches Brew maybe? Dunno! He had a big influence on Miles's sound though and his influence on jazz as a whole is incalculable. A true pioneer.
Keith Houchen
Return To Forever is an essential Chick Corea album. You’re right, so many to mention!
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 12, 2021 Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) Ha! Literally had it in my hand to put on right now... Love me a bit of Stanley Clarke too.. Edited February 12, 2021 by Chest Rockwell
SuperBacon
Lazy of me, but I can't be arsed to list all of the samples, but the amount of entries on here shows how influential they were. https://www.whosampled.com/Chick-Corea/ And not to turn it into a Hip Hop thread, but this has always been one of my favourite uses of one of his songs. Children's Song No 6 is the original.
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted February 12, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted February 12, 2021 That's crazy. I'm actually a bit unnerved as I was genuinely walking around whistling 'Spain' yesterday in work all day, while trying to work it into 'Birdland' for my own amusement. Very, very saddened to hear of that great mans' passing, and I'll pop Maiden Voyage on now while I eat my lunch here in the canteen .
