That's exactly where I meant. A nice pub and the location was ideal. The film being on was coincidental.
Paid Members unfitfinlay Posted February 28, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 28, 2020 The little known, but excellent, Just a Boy's Game. One of my mates recorded it by accident when we were teenagers and, well, it's just so fucking quotable, especially when you're on a night out. Other than that, probably Rocky. Paid Members DCW Posted February 28, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted February 28, 2020 I know The Commitments, The Departed, Uncle Buck, Trains, Planes & Automobiles and Police Academy 1 very well, as in I could act each one of them out as an awful one man show! The King Of Swing
It's probably really close between Fight Club and Monster Squad for me.
Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted February 28, 2020 Awards Moderator Share Posted February 28, 2020 Star Wars original trilogy but that's a bit safe. Blues Brothers no problem (for some reason that escapes me I wrote the words out by hand when I was about 12). Temple of Doom with my eyes shut, especially enjoying all the Thugee dialect. I'd also go with Sting, I watched that so much as a teenager. Maybe do a Robert Shaw double and go Jaws. So much good dialogue in that, it's a miserable shame it gets reduced to "bigger boat". "...like a doll's eyes..."
Paid Members waters44 Posted March 1, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted March 1, 2020 Sort of related to the thread - I introduced my four year old to the Matilda film the other day. Out of the whole film she has remembered two lines - “Piss worm!” (Nipped that in the bud early as don’t want her repeating this!) and ”Don’t breathe at all!” (She can keep that one)
Paid Members Cod Eye Posted March 1, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted March 1, 2020 Die Hard, or A Nightmare on Elm Street for me(or maybe Ghostbusters). I used to watch them until the tapes were worn out back when I was a kid. Same with the TV show The Young Ones. I could sit and recite everysingle word from each episode, with pinpoint timing. As a side note, Christmas Chronicles almost makes it onto the list, with the amount of time my youngest watched it over Christmas...
CavemanLynn
Dogma. Edgy teen Cavemanlynn has a lot to answer for.

Paid Members BomberPat Posted March 2, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted March 2, 2020 Withnail & I, I could probably do almost line-for-line, with the exception of the Latin. The Princess Bride, not far behind.
Loki
Highlander.  When I was about 17 my party trick was that me and my mate could do the whole of Highlander from memory, which as you can imagine was a big hit with the ladies. I remember the Vhs of that film arriving at school and being passed around like it was porn.  Finally getting to watch it at aforementioned friend’s house when his parents were out remains a glorious memory.  Any particularly strong spirit that does the rounds is still referred to as “ a little boom boom”
Abe_Knuckleball_Schwartz
Jaws for me. Maybe not so much now but certainly when I was at school I could virtually recite most of the script.
