As we're all middle aged/elderly on here, I thought I'd start a thread of things that remind us of the reaper.

Defenders of the Earth, which we all probably watched as children was based in 2015. And, in 6 years, San Angeles is going to release Simon Phoenix from cryostatus.

For me, it’s the existence of actual regens.

I must have been 17ish locked away playing Championship Manager for 20 seasons and eventually signing the likes of Steve Beckham or Gary Floyd Hasselbaink and of course now, I guess Haaland being the most prominent example, I’m seeing the actual children of footballers I grew up watching or indeed, as a fan of a lowly League One club, ex Premier League players turning up in the dugout at London Road.

Likewise in the NFL, Ed McCaffrey was somewhat of a hero for my beloved Denver Broncos before woke - white wide receivers are ten a penny these days! - so it really does blow my mind that his son is one of the best players in the league today.

I think it was as soon as we passed the time from BTTF 2 that everything fucked with my head.

It's a bit of a cliché but releasing BTTF 1 today means they travel back to the heady past of 1996. Marty jumps on stage to help play Three Lions before telling them their kids are going to love Skrillex.

Another footy related one. When Arsenal's Max Dowman became the PL's youngest ever goal scorer earlier in the year, you could've knocked me down with a feather when whomever it was on commentary mentioned that he was born in 2010. For context, that's roughly around the same time as the UKFF vs pCc nonsense and the toilet bowl rap battle.

It was at that moment that I realised I might be getting on a bit now.

Christ, it was only a couple of months before David Bowie died and then everyone died and then Brexit and then Trump and then....

I think you've just identified the fracture in the timeline.

@John Matrix it was Ian Wright's GRANDSON making his professional debut that really made me feel it.

... and the fact I'm sure that was first mentioned on these boards years ago makes me think we might all be going doolally, which is a sure sign of ageing if ever there was one.

Has everyone got an age where they suddenly felt ancient overnight, and like they were the oldest, most out of touch person in every room?

I don't think i'd thought about it at all until I was 37, then all of a sudden I had a heap of health issues, all my colleagues seemed 12 years old and every reference I made fell on deaf ears.

For the last 2 years, every day feels like something happens to make me realise how old I am. Kenan and Kel is over 30 years old was today's existential dread trigger.

I had what was probably my first “old man injury for no reason” this weekend at 37 years old.

Pulled something near my pec/ribcage without actually doing anything physical, that coincided with me also coming down with something cold-like, which meant every cough and sneeze felt like I was being stabbed.

I got a twinge walking from one part of work to another about this time last year. It didn’t go away, so by October I went to see the GP who said ‘yeah it’s not there yet but that’s going to become a hernia, nothing you can do except wait for it to get worse, by the way there‘ll be a two year waiting list when it happens, also don’t lift or carry or do any form of exertion anymore, bye’. Got a second opinion earlier this year and they said the same thing in a nicer way. It’s just made me feel so old. Having to avoid helping out with physical tasks, limping around on the days where it’s more uncomfortable, seeing my physical shape and fitness go down the shitter because every time I push myself it hurts for the next few days, knowing it’s not going to get any better and knowing I can’t do anything about it. And I got it from doing fucking nothing. I’m so old and I hate it.
