That's my contribution to this thread! So out of touch with modern chart music. I never thought that would happen to me, when I was younger I thought I'd always keep up with what was current but the he way the music industry and how we listen to music has changed means that it's so easy to lose touch. So looking at the track listing of 124 I’m surprised to see songs by Duran Duran, Chemical Brothers, Take That, Westlife, Shania Twain, Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney. Kids today must hate that shite, imagine if the 1988 compilation had songs by George Formby and Vera Lynn! Quote

We weren’t quite there in 1997, which is when it happens in the movie, but it’s interesting to see how much more plausible it seems each year. It’s a good thing people aren’t being slaughtered by drones or replaced with AI or I’d be quite concerned. In 3 years the T-800 goes back in time to 1984 for murder Sarah O' Connor. Also, more importantly, Eurotrash had it's last episode over 20 years ago, I dread to think when Channel Five stopped showing wank fodder of a weekend. About 2001 or so? Quote

I first bought a Shania CD in the July of 1995... I suppose at least most of those are current releases rather than "Any Man of Mine" by Shania popping back in the charts after it was in Stranger Things or something. Beauty and a Beat by Minaj and Bieber came out almost 15 years ago but pops back up after Coachella this year. I'm not sure I like this era-less state of music now. I recognise way more than I should on that tracklisting, largely due to the current popularity of country music in this country (Kacey Musgraves ❤️ and the other country artists that I'm not a stan for, but I know) and I know the Westlife track as it's yet another brutal slaying of a mid-90s country song by that lot (a John Berry number in this case). The modern non-country stuff I know of purely against my will. Quote

Hearing The Cranberries on a car add the other day reminded me how much 90s music I hear on ads these days, and the equivalent gap would have meant hearing lots of mid/late 50s tunes on telly when I was about 10. Jarring. I feel pretty old when I think that I might live long enough to have to specify 1950s writing a similar post in the future as opposed to the current decade. Quote

TBH when I was 10, Jive Bunny were having a reign of terror on the charts mashing up 50's/early 60's songs. Quote

So best part if a quarter of a century. FFS now I feel old Quote

Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted August 8 Awards Moderator Posted August 8 I was over in Krakow a few months ago for the footy and on our way to the stadium, the local coppers decide to collar me and my younger mate out of a group of a few thousand to give us a telling off for having a drink on us. Probably because we didn’t look like hooligans, so it was an easy pick. My mate’s arse went as he’s never been nicked but I just told him to keep calm and let them get their little bit of power out of their system. After the mini-lecture, they asked us our names and for our ID, split us up and said we had to confirm each other’s name then we’d be on our way. I told them his name, they checked his ID and I was fine. They then asked him ‘and what is your father’s name?’, pointing at me. My mate is nearly 30. Quote
