This is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, Wolf of Wall Street are just a few of my own favourite films and he was involved in them in some capacity on either side of the camera. A big loss when you look at his body of work and it stands solidly against many of the 'upper echelons' of Hollywood stardom

It was only yesterday I saw that Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman and Jerry O’Connell have been doing a live tour / watchalong to mark 40 years of Stand By Me.

Sad to hear about Rob Reiner. It’s been a while since I last saw Stand By Me so I’ll definitely watch it sometime this week.

Rob Reiner and his wife have been murdered at their home, awful news. Made some absolute all time classic films, the Princess Bride, When Harry met Sally, Stand By Me, This is Spinal Tap are all stone Cold classics that stand up to repeat watches whenever they're on. Awful news

Incredibly sad news to wake up to. Directed some genuine masterpieces and classics, films that I've watched a million times and used to put on to fall asleep to. Wouldn't want to guess the amount of times I heard the words "I'm Marty Di Bergi" and then promptly fell asleep as a teenager.

Such variety too, Spinal Tap, Princess Bride, A Few Good Men, Misery, Sleepless In Seatlle, Stand By Me. Also love him as Jordan's dad in The Wolf of Wall Street. 

Got progressively more gutted the longer I've typed. Definitely got to watch something of his tonight.

Awful news. I’d put him as one of my favourite directors - that run of films from Spinal Tap through to A Few Good Men I don’t think can be bettered for sustained quality and number of “that’s one of my favourite” films. Much more recently he was a great addition to the cast of The Bear. So sad to wake up to this news.

What a director! Have a lot of love for The Princess Bride and Spinal Tap personally, but I know he was more than that. Even though it wasn’t as good as the original, seeing Marty DiBergi in Spinal Tap II made me happy.

To die in a double homicide is just awful as well. When Harry met Sally is a film I never got to watch because by the time it was age appropriate it had been parodied so often. This is as good a reason as ever.

He made a cracking "Who Killed JFK?" podcast too, did Rob.

Really gutting.  When Mrs JB and myself made an "our favourite movie romances" montage for a big wedding anniversary the films of Rob Reiner were well represented due to our age.  He also made films that we've been able to share with our kids as we remembered them.  The Princess Bride and Stand By Me really are ones you can put on and think "wow, this really is as good as I remembered it." Not all the films you loved as a kid in the 80s spark that when you rewatch them as an adult!  I even gave Stand By Me to my daughter in law as a birthday present a couple of days ago.  An astonishing legacy, just a shame that it's become a legacy right now.

I think Misery is my favourite work of his. How we manages to get relentless tension out of a film which is mostly two people in a room, one in bed and one standing up, just talking is a master class of directing.
