As I've mentioned a few times on here in the Celebrity Spotting thread, he lived just down the road from me. Was always a nice, chatty bloke when I happened across him in the local shops. One of the city's greatest ever musicians.

I can still to the day remember the first time I heard this song and was blown away.

When it kicks in it still makes me feel 100ft tall and genuinely like I can do anything. Absolutely incredible.

The rumbling intro to I Wanna Be Adored at Heaton Park is the only time I can genuinely say I had chills at a gig, the Roses were icons to me. Loved the quote Mani gave when they asked if he’d be tempted to play with both Primal Scream and the Roses on the day - “You can’t ride two bikes with one arse.”

Gutted. Always seemed like a great bloke and he was an incredible musician. The Stone Roses debut album is one of my favourite albums of all time and Mani and Ian Brown were perfection together on it. Terrible news

For me Mani is one of the all time great favourite person in the band because he's like the crowd's representative on stage, just wanting everyone to get along and have a great time. 

Plenty of their back catalogue does it - obviously - but Elephant Stone still does something ridiculous to my blood no matter what mood I'm in.

Udo Kier, actor in seemingly a thousand films, at 81.

I'll always associate him with 70s horror and exploitation stuff, but he was in a tonne of movies that ran the gamut from massive Hollywood blockbusters to stuff that three people have probably seen. Just an incredibly varied career, the type people don't really get to have now.

One of the most diverse careers in cinema history. Could genuinely pop up in anything at any time. He's in a Brazilian neo-noir called The Secret Agent in the next month or so. Always good in everything.

Damn. What an icon. The Harder They Come is such a tremendous film with an all-timer soundtrack.

I know it wasn't the original but I don't think there was a better version I Can See Clearly Now. Upbeat and energetic from a period where reggae was a welcome part of the chart and able to super-charge it in the middle.

Udo Kier was great. Obviously a film actor but did some great voice acting too. Was watching the Justice League episodes he was in recently as part of a villainous group with Corey Burton, Jeffrey Jones and Michael McKean. Best was as the evil Professor Pericles in Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated.

I mean the fact we could all start naming favourite Udo Kier roles and go on forever is a testament to the mans work but I can't not mention Von Trier's Riget (Kingdom Hospital - if you do watch please don't watch the Stephen King version).

In it he plays mysterious possible bad guy Åge Krüger but then also

Krüger's newborn son. It's a demon baby and it's utterly messed up and also he's quite heartbreaking?

There's like 5 things he did in that show that are burned into my brain forever, mostly based on his performance

Jack Shepherd, probably best known for Wycliffe, has died at the age of 85.

Apparently he was also a pretty capable jazz musician. Nice.
