Chris Rea was ace. Loved Auberge and God's Great Banana Skin. It was a bit of a stereotype that his sound and Dire Straits' were very similar, but I was a big fan of the latter, so it was no bad thing for me.

RIP. Given all the health problems he reeled off when he appeared on Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing, sounds like he had not too bad a run. I liked that song he did with Mortimer too, Let's Dance.

Chris Rea had an absolutely classic, mid 80's Balearic House track with the Josephine Remix.

 

This is solid gold dance music. And was caned in the 80's by the top early House DJ's. He was being clowned by the music press for being a completely uncool act at the time. Whilst beautiful European guys and girls danced to this in Ibiza clubs.

Has a very special place for me as I met my now wife through playing CoD (we had met offline first but got into playing CoD and one thing led to another) and as such I wouldn't have had my 2 wonderful kids added into the mix too.

Hell of a career, he worked on Medal of Honor at its peak, founded the COD series, and then moved onto create Titanfall, Apex Legends, made two of the better recent Star Wars titles, and then in a final act delivered the best battlefield title in a long time. Horrible way to go, leaves a big legacy.

Perry Bamonte - guitarist and keyboard player from The Cure - has passed away after a short illness, only 65.

He only joined them in the early 90’s but that was around the time I got into them so I’ll always see him as one of the originals. Contributed to so much of their sound but always seemed like fame wasn’t for him. Really glad he came back into the band for the recent work, seemed like they all enjoyed being back together again.

When I was just starting to really get into football and being a Celtic boy, it was him and O'Neill that helped make that club special. I don't think without those two we'd have got Neil Lennon through the door, never mind getting performances out of the likes of Tommy Boyd and Paul Lambert at the tail end of their careers. 

Probably a good shout to be up there as one of Scotland's greatest ever players.

Just back from the city ground. Took said father in-law, as I often do, and he had a bit of a tear on during Robbo’s tribute. He had the pleasure of seeing John do his thing at the CG in the 70s and 80s.
