Doog Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 It's easy for everyone here to be such model citizens on your high horses etc, but come on, we're talking someone you've been through everything with over 20 years, it's not as simple as "you're a disgrace fuck off". You're kidding yourselves or trying to look good to say it is Quote

It's probably veering off topic, but it's not black and white. Friendships, unlike family, are chosen based on an implicit recognition that you're drawn to the other person based on their personality. If any friend of mine was capable of this shit, I think I'd quite easily cut the cord as they wouldn't be the person I thought they were, rendering the friendship a sham anyway. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted April 18, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 18, 2025 I've had the same best friend for 30 years and if I found out he'd done even half the shit Vince McMahon has allegedly done then I wouldn't speak to him again. Get outta here with this "it's not black and white" shit. Of course it is. Quote
Doog Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 Fair enough. I'm not expecting people to agree (or at least admit to it not being as black and white) but i stand by what I said, and i guarantee it'd be different if it was real life for some people. Not everyone as everyone's moral compass is different, I'm just saying. I'm not saying I'd be out with him partying like nothings happened, but i definitely wouldn't close everything off there and then, and a lot of people wouldn't; even if they say they would on here for the moral high ground. I can't think of many issues that are more black and white than that. Definitely wouldn't say how much I loved them in an international media interview. Fucking hell what is wrong with these wrestlers? I bet all the old school guys feel the same too. Edited April 18, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote
Paid Members DEF Posted April 18, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 18, 2025 There's no way the normal thing to do in this situation isn't to just cut them out of your life. If I found that out about someone I was close to it would be like a knife to my heart and I wouldn't just ditch them I'd be utterly furious with them. Quote

If anyone I thought I was friends with showed themselves as capable of half of what Vince is accused of, I would realise that they weren't my friend at all, because obviously I never knew the person they really were. I have cut people out of my life for considerably less. It's complicated to choose between morality and friendship, but if you draw the line anywhere, surely it's at not even halfway to what Vince has done! Quote

As someone who it was real life for (me and numerous others in our friendship group), you'd be completely and utterly wrong. I've also fallen out with and no longer talk to people for much, much less. Edited April 18, 2025 by wordsfromlee Quote

It's probably veering off topic, but it's not black and white. A rapist is pretty black and white for me to be honest. Absolutely no chance I’d want associated with them no matter what we had been through not even just because of what they were but also the implications that then would imply towards myself for accepting that behaviour. I’d be embarrassed to ever have been friends with them to be frank. I actually don’t think Cena’s stance is terrible whilst it is allegations (though wn absolute PR disaster to say it publicly) and it’s okay to say you’d potentially believe your friends side for a time but if it was “clear he’d done them” then that’s a different matter entirely. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted April 18, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 18, 2025 Everyone has their own line in the sand and that but if yours isn't disowning a friend who sex trafficked, humiliated and exploited a young, vulnerable woman then everyone else's "moral high ground" is a molehill in comparison. I've blanked RL friends for waaaay less than what Vince did. Just because your moral compass is screwed, stop assuming everyone else's is too. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 Sitting here on my Shetland Pony and as someone who grew up with a bunch of scumbags and had scumbag morals for a good half of his life even I would leave my rapist trafficking best friend on read with no hesitation at all. That being said it’s clearly easy for Cena to just not believe the accusations and evidence against Vince. I think rich wealthy men have a tendency to always go with the narrative of “she’s making it up for money and fame” no matter how ridiculous that is because if it can happen to one of them It can happen to any of them. Chili Posted April 19, 2025 Posted April 19, 2025 Good grief, you'd cut that 'friend' out for good. Anyway, it'd be an incredible pay off to a rib that John Cena is completely unaware he can just say 'no comment' to questions, because coming out with that answer when one isn't even required is definitely a choice from the weird robot man. The Reverend Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 The Ringboy's scandal rears its head again with fresh allegations, this time shockingly involving Koko.B.Ware too: https://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/2025/4/29/24420194/wwe-hall-of-famers-pat-patterson-koko-b-ware-accused-abuse-amended-ring-boys-lawsuit-mcmahons-wwf Quote
SaitoRyo Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 There's also reports that Vince may be attempting to delay or resist full compliance with discovery in the lawsuit a group of shareholders filed against him and WWE after the sale/TKO merger (the one where they basically said WWE's internal investigation into McMahon was a sham and he acted in his best interests, not the shareholders', by coming back and facilitating the sale of WWE). I feel like this one might be the biggest worry for him, since it's already in the discovery phase. I really want Janel Grant to have her day in court, but it wouldn't shock me if they 'got' Vince on something dodgy he'd done on a business (rather than a personal) level. They got Al Capone for tax evasion, not for murder. Quote
