Curiosity got the better of me. Turns out Logan Paul bid on the Hogan boots - got up to within $16,000 of winning them too. Wonder if he went for the belt?

That is the only problem. I know most of what they have is of the 70's onwards stuff, but I think the WWE do have quite a few older items too. The problem is, it would be near impossible to do it without them, but at the same time if they were involved I doubt they would want anything other than their re-telling of history.

Following on from a post about the recent sale of the 'red logo' IC title, it got me thinking. Would a temporary wrestling memorabilia exhibit work? I'm not sure why I've not thought of it before - I've actually worked on similar exhibits for Elvis x 2, Prince and Muhammad Ali (all at the O2), Stanley Kubrick (at the Design Museum), and The Rolling Stones (Saatchi Gallery). Most of these were from the estates / companies behind the individuals themselves (obviously Graceland - and the Stones have kept almost everything in their warehouses) but with Kubrick and Ali, some was leased from collectors. They all ran for about 6-12 months (Elvis I think was a bit longer IIRC) and all did well financially. Most did extremely well in Merchandise. My question is - if the WWE did a non-permanent exhibit of old artefacts, mixed in with newer items, plus interactive displays etc. (mainly to keep the youngsters happy) would you go? What would you like to see? There is a ton of items they have, and they wheel it out for WM weekend, an exhibit in the UK would be a fantastic publicity tool for them. For many of the other exhibits we had fans coming in from all over Europe to be there. And before anyone says about shipping - the Prince and Elvis items were all shipped from the US (2,000 plus) including 3 cars and a motorbike for the Elvis. So what do you think? Would you go - what would you want to see?

I'd read about that, seems crazy, but perhaps they now want that history back (doesn't Trips have a big collection of original belts?) or could it be something to do with next year being the 40th Anniversary of perhaps the most famous match involving that belt? I think the Pat Patterson title they traded it for was wanted because they used it for a match or something. Having another look though, I would think whoever paid $414,800 for Hogan's WM2 title or a staggering $1,037,000 for his WM1 boots (I take neither were the WWE) would probably now be the owner of this title....whoever that may be though!

Wasn't there a thing about the Hart Foundation's finisher being called 'The Heart Attack' but it was never referenced on TV as that?

Could it be WWE themselves? They now seem to be keen to protect their heritage. They have that huge warehouse with stuff they trot out for WM weekend, and also did that Lost Treasures show or whatever it was called. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years they don't actually have a physical building with artefacts on display. If they combined it with an attraction like Universal, Disney or somewhere like Vegas, they could just lease a building and get a nice bit of footfall. Would shift a ton of merchandise too. Outside of the WWE, I don't know. I'm not sure it has enough pop-culture relevance to appeal to those collectors who buy expensive items up and then trades with a select circle who also have exclusive items. I know there is a very hardcore wrestling collectors market though.

Not sure exactly how long the run was but The Freebirds had a minor stint in the WWF in 1984.

What has been interesting in this thread is how some short stints were actually far longer than I realised. Someone corrected me on Buddy Rose and his early 90's WWF run being longer than I thought. I thought Chris Adams only had a short run in WCW but actually it was between 1997 and 1999. Same with Ricky Steamboat in WWF in 1991 - it was March to October, whilst I though it was more a couple of months in the Summer.

I looked this up as I remember OMG being with Sullivan, and them cutting El Gigante's hair - and interesting that it said Sullivan put together a stable of OMG, Black Blood and The Angel of Death. I remember Black (Billy Jack Haynes) Blood being around, but not with Sullivan and have no recollection of The Angel of Death at all at that time.

I always thought that the Powers of Pain had been WWF Tag Team Champs.

As 'tis the season, the WCW channel on Youtube has uploaded a few past Halloween Havoc events - 91, 92 and 97.

And bizarrely got a new pair of Hasbro figures - ok, not alot to do as they were just re-paints (and a head swap) but they did mould special caps for them too.

I'd love to know more about it - it looks like they went through the lost property box of the arena they were in that day. What's really odd is that the WWF were usually very, very protective of making sure that their wrestlers looked the part. There's all sorts of sketches and designs from their design department of various stars attire. They always made sure it always looked high quality....and then this bag of shit. Did they make it so shit so that it would be memorable? I've always thought that they should open up their archives and do a book on the outfits - it'd be great to see more of the sketches and working outs of various characters and their evolution.

Barry Windham in the WWF as both The Widowmaker in 1989 and the Stalker in 1996. 'Playboy' Buddy Rose in the WWF in 1990 - he did get a 2 page spread in the WWF magazine at the time though. Likewise in the same time period, Tony Atlas as Saba Simba.

Was it something like Survivor Series '96 where Sky had some problem with it and it wasn't shown live or when it aired it was edited or something (sorry for being vague - 30 years *jeez* is a long time!) and then it was on one of the Dutch or German channels uncut, or before Sky got to show it. I just remember there being this buzz about it being one of the few PPV's of the era that Sky cocked-up on.

Lovely match - great stuff. Although there will be lots who haven't seen this, it was previously on the 'Unreleased' boxset a few years back. Sorry to be a moaning old sod, but it would be nice if they could dig into the vault for some really unseen gems. In fact what I'd really like is an interview with whoever is in charge of the vault - love to find out exactly what they have (and if they know exactly what they have)

If the Vault-Master is reading this, then please do a compilation of Dangerous Alliance matches please and thank you. I had a 12 disc set of them back in the good ol' tape trading days, but not sure where all my discs are now. There was so much great stuff they did across the various TV shows.
