The most shocking part was they ruled to dismiss late last week and it's just been reported it's so sickening it's allowed to be if your rich and besties with the president

Janel Grant's civil case against Vince is still ongoing, this is specifically in relation to some federal charges around NDAs and misuse of funds. The federal appeals court has also revealed that Vince's lawyer had wrongly withheld relevant documents, so they will now have to be turned over. So it's not as done and dusted as the headline makes it sound.

Bingo. 

This is Vince's team putting out some 'positive' PR for him as the Grant suit is still ongoing (they recently resubmitted an amended version of it), as is the ring boy lawsuit (which recently added more plaintiffs). 

Also, the lawyer in question that withheld documents was, I believe, revealed to be the now retired Jerry McDevitt.

With Trump back in power, is there really any chance of anything happening to Vince anyway? I can imagine him trying to intervene somehow because he's a twat.

It's a civil case. There's not going to be a conviction that can be pardoned. Vince isn't going to jail, unless convincing evidence leads to criminal charges, but he will suffer financially and reputational damage if Janel Grant wins. What that's worth in America at the moment is anyone's guess. With the madness of the situation over there currently, I imagine it'd be damage enough that no TV company or corporation would touch him with a bargepole but the President of the United States would give him a role in government.

Yeah I don't massively understand their law system which is why I was wondering. It's even more broken than ours any time I read about it.

The reputation stuff often seems to pass with time, or more than enough people just don't care.

Right now, in a very odd and depressing way, it might be worth more than a federal conviction, because the consequences can't be negated. It brings the issue away from the governmental sphere and into the realm of public reaction, which might be the only way these days to give these fuckers their comeuppances.

It absolutely is a shitshow. The existence of the possibility of pleading "no contest" instead of being forced to plead "guilty" is the biggest example for me.

Apologies if anyone posted this already but a civil case knackers Vince because while in a criminal case in the States the burden of proving guilt is "beyond reasonable doubt", in a civil case it drops to "more likely true than not true." So he'd be fucked.

Would be same as that scumbag Conor McGregor's recent civil conviction for sexual assault. The director of public prosecutions here didn't reckon there was enough evidence to go ahead with a criminal prosecution as the threshold is beyond reasonable doubt, so victim sued him in civil courts where burden of proof is lower and she thankfully won. No jail in civil courts unfortunately, just compensation.
