Aside from the obvious implication, it also makes me wonder what she's been up to - unless there's some Mutually-Assured Destruction deal in place, I can't imagine there'd be much motivation for her to stay married to him.

Can Linda clarify the size of Hulk Hogan's dick or Terry Bollea's? There was an amusing (though who knows now if it holds any water) that Hogan and Vince did the wife swapping before DDP & Bischoff stole the gimmick.

Whilst I'm sure that's the reason in this case, I think it's fairly common for elderly rich couples to seperate but not formally divorce. They tend to like the trappings of the life they've built and don't want to have to divvy it up, so just work schedules so they don't run into each other. Marriages like that end up being businesses, as opposed to anything more warm, and they're just managing their assets.

My mum and dad still aren't divorced, having been separated for nigh on 10 years now. Wealth isn't a factor, and like Linda there are some reasons (not sexual trafficking, but financial) for her to pursue, but she never has. They just have extremely separate lives and did before they separated, so organising all that crap hasn't appealed to them.  She was staggered when I suggest she might change her name back. Sometimes it's just one of those things. Though when is anything ever normal in Vinceland?

 

I will say that a woman with republican political ambitions in Connecticut might still feel that divorce would be considered a black mark, and leaving him now would just make him look guilty(er)

So between recent Legends contracts (Victoria, Melina, Jaqueline) and them now bringing in Dawn Marie and Francine for the NXT show at the ECW Arena, am I being a cynical prick to suspect ulterior motives here? It just feels like an awful lot of women from a very specific time period suddenly getting interest from WWE when that hasn’t been the case for decades.

I hate that this is my default thought process on things like this, but it is very on brand for this company. Just give Blue Meanie a contract to clean up the whole JBL mess, innit?

I mean, fucking hell, wasn’t Dawn Marie’s last experience with this company twenty years ago, when they fired her whilst on maternity leave?

I think you're right to think like this given the company's history and how they tend to operate. The sudden interest and opportunities also strikes me as suspicious. I'm just waiting for Jackie Gayda to get a Hall of Fame induction at this point. 

And yes, Dawn Marie was fired in the summer of 2005, while she was on maternity leave. She subsequently successfully sued the company and wasn't mentioned for almost two decades afterwards.

yeah, it screams of a lot of women being signed to contracts that probably have an NDA element in them. It definitely feels like trying to put a lid on anyone who might be in a position to speak out about the culture of the company at certain times.

You'd assume while covering their own arses there's also an attempt to try and demonstrate they are a different company with a different culture now.

Even if it's for the wrong reasons, any improvement in the working environment and an attempt to offer an olive branch to performers who may have been on the sharp end of the previous regime's reprehensible attitude to women is probably a positive on balance.

Obviously this involves taking it on face value with the glaring caveat that it's also just as likely a cynical ploy by WWE I guess, but I'm choosing to believe it's not as shady as it could be preceived (it probably is).

Unless it is so none of them would be able to be used in any of the court cases, I agree.

It's awful to say, but even with the allegations and the hope you'd get people to band together and really change the culture, they're still wrestlers in a wild west industry who don't get the paydays they used to and of course they'd take it and might need the bills to be paid. It's a shit situation and definitely a cover to me, but I'm almost certain some of them might not even realise it themselves.
