Paid Members Jazzy G Posted July 7 Paid Members Posted July 7 Farage has resigned as MP for Clacton over all the stuff that was coming to light about his finances and associations. He is running in the by-election. Does Count Binface dust off his suit? Does Polanski run for the Greens? Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted July 7 Paid Members Posted July 7 Of course he's running in the by-election, the shameless cunt. Not the wisest thing to do, though: right-wing voters usually don't need much of an excuse to keep voting for right-wingers even after they've shown their arses - all Reform have to do is put up another candidate, and that lot will vote them in. But it wouldn't surprise me if, after all their complaining about how they never see him in Clacton, they voted him back in again. No point Polanski running there. They voted for that spiv; they're not suddenly going to flip left just because of this. Quote

Farage will win the by-election with ease. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted July 7 Paid Members Posted July 7 Farage claiming he is the most physically attacked MP of modern times when two MPs have been murdered is a stretch. Quote
Chili Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Very unusual for the BBC to be so giving of their time to Farage there to air a shitty uninterrupted version of the Golden Cleric speech. Quote
CTXRussomark Posted July 7 Posted July 7 They must have pretty reliable (in their eyes) data that suggests Farage would still be likely to win in Clacton, otherwise he'd have just spit the dummy and gone home rather than risk having to resign and also lose the by-election. It could turn out to be a pretty smart move if he ends up back in his seat with "proof" that the general public don't care about all these accusations. Hopefully not, but I wouldn't put money on it. Paid Members Jazzy G Posted July 7 Paid Members Posted July 7 Apparently because he served as an MP for two years, the word "served" doing a lot of heavy lifting there, he qualified for a loss of office payment as well, which works out to four months of his MP's salary. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted July 7 Paid Members Posted July 7 I don't think that means what you think it means. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted July 7 Members Posted July 7 "He was a serving cunt" was right there. Quote
Paid Members JNLister Posted July 7 Paid Members Posted July 7 Looks like a strong possibility no other major party runs, which means there's a good chance he gets back in with 80%+of the vote but is then suspended from Parliament, there's a recall petition, and another by-election. He'd probably win that unless all the other parties unite behind a (likely Conservative) candidate, but you are potentially looking at 5-6 months where every day is about whether or not he took bribes. As several people have pointed out, it's not really about whether he can win in Clacton, it's about whether Reform move from 25-30% down to 20-25%, at which point they collapse in the number of seats they'd win. Oh, so this investigation would still carry over if he was re-elected? I assumed he was falling on his sword now as the likely outcome was going to be suspension anyway, so by resigning he could retrospectively declare those donations and be re-elected with a clean slate. But if the investigation carries over what does he gain from resigning just to run again? Quote
Chico Torres Posted July 7 Posted July 7 He will get voted in again by the racists, probably by a larger margin since “the establishment” are out to get him (despite him being a multi millionaire career politician) and then he will be more empowered claiming the people gave him another mandate to continue and he took on and defeated the establishment and him and the rest of the racist cunts will continue to be over represented on every political tv show. Cousin Jim Bob Posted July 7 Posted July 7 No one else will run, this is going to end up Farage Vs Count Binface. Which basically sums up the whole circus. Quote
