It's a shame Eddie didn't do a Terry Funk and just get up and look around the arena like "what the fuck was that?!". Is this a case of a wrestler being too professional? But what can you realistically do in that situation, this isn't an outlaw show like those IWA-Japan shows were, I feel for Eddie more than anyone there.

He had his head down, and didn't see the explosion - according to someone there on twitter, the sound was pretty good. It wasn't a case of 'don't sell it' like with Funk - it was a case of 'stop selling it'.Ā

He played that he passed out. Recovering from that isn't easy, as it still makes clear you were pretending to pass out. Probably easiest to let it be someone else's issue. He'll be fine. One promo and he'll be back on track.

It's presumably buggered Moxley being written off too so we're headed for another botch job on Wednesday given they've only a few days to write an alternative?Ā

Haven't stopped laughing all day though so there is that.Ā

The only reasonable things Eddie Kingston could say are that he was either pissed as a fart and passed out on top of Mox drunkenly trying to rescue him, or the adrenaline went to his head and he passed out. The thing is though everyone who watched it knows neither is the case and they probably won't even have Eddie Kingston come out on Wednesday. The entire thing is a disaster. I feel like this is what everyone who watched Sting vs Hogan in '97 was like. Like all that build for a wet fart and suddenly you're stone cold on the product because it utterly wasted your time and money.

It's the sparkler-esque pyroĀ that ruins it for me. If it had just been the "explosions", you could say it looked weak but it would have at least been in keeping with the earlier explosions.

Even if they had gone for the plasma blasts like WWE do for Kane's entrance with the smoke explosions they opted for it would have been passable. The lack of quality control there for a company of this size is astounding.Ā

Overall, the show was way too long for my liking with more matches than necessary. By the main event I was getting tired and restless. None of it was bad per se, in fact almost everything was at least passable, just went on longer than needed.Ā

I'm amazed AEW hasn't messed more things up since it started, but that is something a company trying to build it's reputation and audience does not need. People are trying to defend it too.

I like Christian but him debuting with all the hoopla doesn't half make them look like TNA. They should have just announced it on twitter that he was showing up. After everyone went wild with the names, I doubt many were arsed about the reveal.

I liked the main event until the fart in church explosion. As for the "Omega can't build a bomb" stuff. People panicked and said stuff. Don't know if it'll work. What's the money NXT take the piss on Wednesday?Ā

The criticism of the Christian signing is insane. They downright told you it wasn't Punk on Wednesday. If you didn't listen to that, that's a you problem. Lesnar isn't leaving his home until COVID is no longer a thing. If you had told me when Christian was signing with AEW in 6 weeks when he appeared at the Rumble, I would have told you that you were insane. The signing felt like Monday Night War shit and I'm here for it.Ā

People who think Maki Itoh should be a face need to watch wrestling properly. She calls the fans "simps". Is that not a clue.Ā

Bucks vs Inner Circle was good. Looks like they are pulling the trigger on MJF turning on Jericho on Wednesday. I'm on Team MJF on that one

Not saying the Casino Battle Royale was long but I would have completed War And Peace in the time it took to do that match.Ā

Miro being a dick to Ford and Sabian was interesting storyline wise..

The women's title match would have worked in Japan but it didn't in Jacksonville. Effort was great thoughĀ

Loved Hardy vs Page especially the end. Broke Matt Hardy could be a fun watchĀ

The Street fight was glorious. Taz on commentary was weird. Did he just shut his phone off so his guys didn't tell him what happened?Ā

Ā

If he'd come out instead of Ethan Page for the ladder match and they'd combined the two reveals into one I think it would have been better, but then is he fit to be involved in a ladder match? And would it have overshadowed Cody's being in the background of every hard camera shot while he was being treated?Ā

On the same night as Impact also ran Ethan Page too, in the weeks after their world champion did pretapes on Impact and teamed with their tag champs. I bet they can't wait for the borders to open, so they can redo the WCW ECW Alliance turn, only this time instead of the Dudleyz, Raven and Dreamer doing the slow turn on Kane and Jericho, it'll be NJPW and Christian, Ethan and the Good Brothers on Hangman and newly-face Omega.

I rewatched the Street Fight and the main event just now. Both were really, really good on second viewing. The main event in particular is just a great match. If only they had just ended the night 30 seconds after Omega pinned Moxley...I had to turn it off straight after. It's been pissing me off all day how bad that final moment is.

What's also disappointing is that they actually managed to hit it out of the park with that Shaq match last week. It was way better than it had any right to be. Two opposite ends of the spectrum inside four days.Ā

They clearly know how to over deliver on something that's cold going in. Now we know they can take something hot and completely shit the bed also. AEW has a lot of goodwill built up but it took (at least) a double blow to that in one night last night. Rebuilding time.Ā

Yet to watch the event so don't have anything new to say on the main event or the other matches full stop. So, the reveal of Christian... surely they got the two ex WWE guys debuts the wrong way round? Christian debutingĀ in the way Show didĀ to tease a huge signing for the PPV. For that debut to be Show would surely be the correct way round and garner the desired reaction they've clearly wanted from said scenario.Ā
