Covid-19 Megathread

We're all in this together @Ralphy.  I have to admit I'm pretty freaked out now.  But this will become the new normal pretty quickly I hope and we'll find ways of socialising and helping each other along.

I'm really missing the football as most of my social interaction comes through that. Have to say though, I work a 9-5:30 job, I have a family, I put 20-30 hours a week into the football club, almost 52 weeks a year. I spent Saturday gardening and cut my hands so couldn't do what I planed yesterday. Days like yesterday where I just had to chill all day are so fucking rare and I absolutely loved it.

Feel bad for that because my overriding emotion is still fear but it's true.

I'm trying to find some comfort in knowing we as a family are doing everything we can, although my wife working for NHS doesn't help. She's an analyst but it's still a fairly vital role at the moment. I'm just hoping they'll allow some to work from home sooner rather than later.

As it is, this is my 2nd full week working from home (after a trial fortnight of alternate days) - I'm certainly slowly going mad, plus I've got the kids today so hoping the Internet can cope with my WFH and endless Youtube and other stuff.

I know my own personal circumstances could be a lot worse, so I'm keeping a hold of that. But yeah seeing so many selfish twats out there just fucking around like nothing matters - that's what's really driving me crazy.

The thing is, there will be an end to this. But the more people act like fucking twats walking about, the longer this will go on in the long run. I do understand why the Government is somewhat reticent of issuing a full scale lockdown, but people have shown they cannot be trusted to follow advice. I know some people are saying the Government's message has been mixed, and I am not defending them, but I really think its just a large majority of people being total wankers. That TESCO thing is the prime example of stupidity in action.

Richmond Park was heaving apparently yesterday. Nobody, and I mean nobody, with a fucking brain would have gone there, looked around and thought it was OK. I expect the lockdown to happen this week at some point, and quite frankly its needed. I do wonder in 2 weeks, how people are going to be able to look at themselves in the mirror as this escalates.

Also what is annoying me, is the people who actually do have to leave their houses to go to work, are put in more danger by people needlessly going on transport. These people deserve to be safe and able to distance on a tube, not have Tom from Penge jump on as he wants a picnic.

Anyway, that felt good to rant. Beats punching a pillow in my room.

I think the most important thing anyone can do right now, besides following official advice of course, is to not fear but take solace from the fact that much of this is beyond our control. As long as we've done what we're supposed to, then we can't have regrets when it's all said and done. What will be will be, and it might not all be good news, but devoting too much energy to worrying about things we can't change will only ever make things worse, not better.

Easy to say, I know, but it's worth saying nonetheless.
