Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted May 21, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 21, 2019 I just can't shake the "one bad experience" line. It's callous logic solidified by this tragic outcome.
MEGABUCKS
That's so heart breaking. I feel terrible for Ashley, her daughter and family. News sites are all quick to report how she died but have yet to mention anything about her time in kuwait and how WWE treated the situation. It's been all over twitter the last few days what the fuck is wrong with them?
Paid Members Accident Prone Posted May 21, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 21, 2019 Bix is now talking about the 2018 'apology' that Massaro sent WWE back in October, but I get the feeling that he really isn't pushing it. He put more effort into researching the heath and safety codes for the venues PROGRESS toured in a couple of years back. Still, apart from him and the occasional RT of Chris B's tweets, I am seeing nothing about this on my timeline. It's horrible.

It's horrible. I don't know if that's fair - he's made the point it isn't being talked about enough and drew attention to the fact they didn't deny it. That's really helpful. Ringsidenews have put up the story. With the news of her suicide, this could be about to properly break.
Paid Members Accident Prone Posted May 21, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 21, 2019 (edited) That's fair enough, on both points. I really hope I'm wrong on my quick judgement and if it's actively helping then that's good. Edited May 21, 2019 by Accident Prone
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted May 21, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 21, 2019 This whole thing is awful. Had a look at her twitter earlier and from her last couple of tweets you’d never guess she was someone so down that she was days away from taking her own life. She was talking about replying to fan mail in one tweet and in another she seems to be looking forward to her birthday coming up. Just goes to show you never know what’s going on in someone’s head. And given the shit she went through in the few years she spent in the WWE, I’m not surprised. Saw something as well on twitter earlier that a few people have set up fake accounts pretending to be Ashley’s daughter and asking for money. Fucking vile to think there are people out there using a tragic situation like this to squeeze a few quid out of it. Reading that affidavit, even knowing loads of stories of horrible shit that’s gone on in wrestling over the decades, this whole thing must be one of the very worst. Proper heartbreaking to know she went through that, was brave enough to speak out and then not only never got the support she needed, she was urged to hush it up. Really is sickening.
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted May 21, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 21, 2019 When was the affidavit originally made public? As closely as I follow wrestling, I can't believe I'd never heard about this until after her death and it seems lots of others here are in the same boat. Was there no media coverage or online outrage at all back when it was originally disclosed?

It was only referred to vaguely before.
2Xtreme_lives
This whole situation is absolutely heartbreaking and needs immediately assessing. I really hope this doesn't fade away but I fear it may just loose traction. One higher profile person just needs to give it a nudge and do the right thing here
Loki
By the silence from any WWE wrestlers on this, I presume that the company has told them not to comment. Â Clearly the WWE are just hoping this will blow over. Â Shows that even if conditions have improved somewhat in the intervening years, their sense of responsibility for those in their charge remains piss poor. Keith Houchen
Whilst tweeting John Oliver about it is a decent idea, perhaps tweeting it to members of the production team might be a better path? Â Oliver no doubt gets shitloads of mentions but production staff wouldn't and are more likely to see it? Â
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted May 21, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted May 21, 2019 John Pollock has reported on it, and uncovered this from Gary Davis' (the guy she referenced as Gary Hart) diaries on WWE.com's wayback machine. It does check out that Ashley had to go to the medical centre. Quote We are all starting to feel the effects of the heat. In order to deal with the hot climate, we are told to keep drinking water constantly. Even then, sometimes the heat can overcome you. At the next autograph session, Ashley begins to swoon. Our base escorts demand she be taken to the Medical Center, despite her protests to the contrary.  While doctors check her out, we proceed to our next destination, Camp LSA’s Mess Hall, where we meet the base commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tim Eichhorn, for lunch. Camp LSA is right next to Ali Al Salem and is the last stop before military personnel leave the country for well deserved R&R or return home to the U.S.A. There can be up to 2,000 troops a day at Camp LSA getting prepped for their return home.
LCJ
@ringsidenews_ on Twitter are reporting it and aren’t letting it go. There are several tweets about it and they have almost 30 thousand followers including Hogan, Jericho and Michael Hayes.
