Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted August 20, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted August 20, 2016 It'll be 5 at the absolute latest, I'd have thought. No way the main event goes on at 5:30. Remember the show only runs until 6 and when you account for entrances, Buffer intros and the post-fight shit they usually like to have an hour to play with for the main event incase it goes the distance. Could even be a little bit before 5 if the other PPV fights end quick. Â I'd say to anyone looking to catch just the main event, I'd play it safe and set the alarm for 4:30. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted August 20, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted August 20, 2016 yeh 4.30 at the latest id set an alarm for. If the main card fights go short they could fight a bit earlier than expected.
Guy Bifkin
Cheers chaps. I have to be up well early anyway so no bother.
Philjax
I didn't put it in my bet but I think it will go the full 5 rounds.
Shane O' Mac Version 2
Beyond excited. Times like these I have a big advantage over you guys, no alarm setting for me, Fight Pass prelims start at 8:30am local time (in 15 minutes), so I'm just going to settle in for a nice relaxing violent Sunday  I have a feeling no matter what goes down in the main event, it'll be historical. And it's a really strong card top to bottom, the hype of the main event has meant awesome prelims like Magny vs. Larkin and Garbrandt vs. Mizugaki have gone basically unloved. It's time!!!  (Almost.) Paid Members WeeAl Posted August 21, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted August 21, 2016 I know live discussion isn't allowed, but I have to say, with only having the option of watching the fights in a casino in Newcastle this weekend, it's a much better experience watching in the comfort of home if given the choice! FUM
I couldn't even last till the start of the show but had set the alarm for the main event luckily. Â Already complaints about the results from friends of mine but I reckon that was pretty straight forward decision to McGregor. Only the 2nd round was debatable and probably decided the fight really and I'd say McGregor edged that and Diaz didn't pull it back because he dominated 30 seconds at the end of it. Â Smartest fight McGregor has ever fought and fair play to him, I thought he was done in the 3rd.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted August 21, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted August 21, 2016 What a show!  Pleased Conor won, but I was cursing him at the end of the 2nd when it looked like he got too comfortable and started winging punches again, leading to him gassing. Credit to him for managing to hang in there, because it wasn't looking pretty in the 3rd. I scored McGregor with the win, but the fight was good and tight enough to where a 3rd is definitely another monster pay day for all involved. Again, he was spectacular for a round and a half before his cardio played up, Diaz couldn't get near him.  Plus, fucking RUMBLE!
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted August 21, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted August 21, 2016 Fucking hell, that was alright wasnt it? God that was a war.
seanz25
Yeah I'd agree with that WeeAl! Â Fun show that, really fun. Lots of good finishes in the PPV. Â Rumble is just a freak isn't he? Easily one of the biggest power KOs I've ever witnessed. Cerrone looked the business. Â McGregor Diaz was a war, I'd need to re-watch it going into it but I had McGregor winning by one round overall, perhaps there was reason for a draw though. Certainly did cross my mind. Was really questioning Conors game plan during the 3rd where Nate was all over him and he looked exhausted, was thinking surely you'd have realised from the last time not to gas but to be fair he dug deep and found some life later on in R4/5. Â Open to a re-match later down the line, for me I wanna see both these guys fighting different opponents next. Save the third instalment for some other time. jimufctna24
Fucking hell that was a ride. As a complete package, that will go down as one of my favourite fights. It had everything.  I had 48-47 for McGregor. Giving him rounds 1,2 and 4. The 2nd round was the one that I thought would decide the decision, but it seems that all 3 judges gave it to McGregor - with one judge scoring the 3rd round 10-8 for Diaz. Either way, it was a fair result, but I wouldn't have cried foul if Diaz would have got the nod.  McGregor was saved by the bell in round 3. I thought he was fucked. Credit to him for coming back to win round 4. I suspect the damage was catching up to Diaz from the early rounds. McGregor probably has the best offence in the game for 3 rounds, but as Rogan cited from Cruz it seems to catch up with him after that - even when he paces himself.  Not sure where either will go next. The money could well be with a 3rd match at 155lbs. Or perhaps with McGregor vs Nick Diaz. But I wouldn't blame the UFC for reeling McGregor in, and back to fighting with men his own size at Featherweight or Lightweight.
seanz25
McGregor supposedly broke his foot.
adequate8
He should vacate the 145 belt, fight Diaz again and then Alvarez for the belt
