Merzbow Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 Never had a truly evil PE teacher or anything but the one stand-out incident was when the campest kid in the year out of absolutely nowhere called the teacher the N word, hard R and everything which lead to an instant chase down and the kid and smacked him one then was practically pinned to the floor by his throat. Obviously there's no excuse for that language but thinking back there must have been some underlying thing that pushed the lad.. Quote
Paid Members DCW Posted July 2, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 2, 2025 (edited) Our PE teacher was great. Eddie O'Byrne was his name and everyone would sing 'BO Eddie' at him (was a rip off of a 90s dance song I can't remember the name of) when he was making his way down the corridors in honour of his aversion to showering. He used to let us out of PE on Friday lunchtimes early if one of us agreed to go the chipper for him and get his feed of ray, potato scallop and chips, soaked in salt and vinegar. He'd let us organise 5-a-sides and leave us to it, unlike the previous PE teacher who'd have us jumping over hurdles or doing poxy bleep tests. He looked a bit like Father Walton, the stage 12 hairy priest off Father Ted. When he retired, he popped up on a Nicorette chewing gum ad, saying he's finally feeling healthy after giving up a 30 year smoking habit. Will never see the like of him again! Paid Members DCW Posted July 2, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 2, 2025 (edited) Thornback Ray & Blonde Ray were used in the chippers in Dublin. When I was young, my granny always got some on Friday's, when catholic's weren't supposed to eat meat. Very few chippers left doing it these days. https://www.dublininquirer.com/on-meath-street-a-chipper-continues-a-tradition-of-dishing-up-ray/ Edited July 2, 2025 by DCW Quote
Doog Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 Giving the "Ever been in a real fight" hof thread a run for it's money this one with the amount of stories that clearly never happened. Christ. Quote
Paid Members Nexus Posted July 2, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 2, 2025 My PE teacher hated my dad because of a cricket rivalry, and as a result hated me. To be fair to him, I also inherited zero of my dad's sporting talent, so it was understandable. He used to just constantly have a can of pop on the go, all day, every day. I still quite liked him, though. Quote

Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted July 2, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 2, 2025 I hated PE (shock horror, I know), but luckily the PE teachers tended to ignore me and let me coast, purely for the 4 weeks a year the boys played rugby and they all wanted me. Not because I was athletic at all, but because I was dumb enough to not care about getting hurt, so made a useful defence. Now one of our art teachers was done for some kind of dodgy behaviour. And it was the female dance teacher the lads all fancied. Quote

The more I think about it now, I appreciate how bizarre it all was. One of our male PE teachers fucked off to Australia for a year and they sent an Australian PE teacher to us in exchange. We had an Australian teacher exchange, although not specifically PE. Our Ms Eggleton (who did oversee the hockey) went to Australia, and they sent Mr Schact to us, which was fine because he was cool, and would joke around with us cool kids. Like with you, he brought some videos of Neighbours from the future, in which Todd had grown his hair long, and so looked even more like me. Wonderful. Our main female PE teacher was probably well into her 50s, but could have been younger as she was heavily, heavily tanned all year round. She would only ever wear netball gear, no matter the weather. Our main male PE teacher was pretty much the insecure nutcase that everyone else's was. Life was all about football and rugby, having a pint and a fight on Friday night, and you were a poof if you thought otherwise. He took perverse delight in watching us skinny, unsporty kids getting mullered by the big lads. Considering we were only supposed to be playing touch rugby, and not actually tackling each other, getting an arm around your neck and dragged to the ground seemed an oddly regular occurrence. I got very much on the wrong side of him once for being offside during a game of football. Now, not having any interest in football, I didn't know I was offside, and this somehow made it worse, as he thought I wasn't paying the game the proper respect. And so he rather loudly suggest I leave the field and "get back to that changing room before I smash your fucking skull in". Quote

Also I enjoy that your name is a backwards spelling of good, as you've always posted the backwards version of a good post. Quote
