I don't know whether it's the case now that he's getting on a bit, but Christopher Walkden used to always accept a role if he was available, especially if it had a dance number in it.

I suppose you have to make your money while you can. You never know when work might dry up.

Michael Caine once said he accepted roles by seeing what page his character first turned up in and then flipping to the end to see if he was still in it at the end. If he was still in it at the end he would take the job.

...apart from Jaws IV where legend says "I opened up the script and it said 'Fade In: The Bahamas' and I said 'I'll do it'".

My other favourite story from this is being asked "have you seen Jaws 4?" and he replies "No, but I have seen the house it built and it is terrific."

 I remember reading an interview with John Malkovich where he said similar although maybe not so much about the dance number. He was not precious about acting, he saw it just as work and would pretty much take anything.
