Cheers is my favourite US sitcom. I've rewatched all 11 seasons a lot! George Wendt as Norm Peterson was a brilliant character and performance. The heart of gold everyman that was the genuine heart of the show, even if he wasn't the featured player. A great actor, really gutted to hear about his passing.

Norm Peterson was one of the best parts of one of the greatest television shows (not just sitcoms) ever. A tremendous performance from George Wendt. 

The payoff here is sensational.

I've been making my way in the world today and it takes everything I've got. I mean, I've been making my way through Cheers since I finished Frasier. I'm only on to series 5 but I really love it. It's another show that I've probably seen 100 episodes of on Channel 4 with no context or any idea of where they are in the run. I feel like most episodes I'd ever seen previously had Kirstie Alley in them, for instance, and she's not even in it yet on my sort of re-watch. Norm is the best. They just save all the best lines for him. Everyone being so happy to see him is so great. Him absolutely hating life is so great. Him constantly eating terrible foot at the Hungry Heffer is so great. Norm and Cliffy's relationship is so great. I love him.

During Cheers, it was nagging me what I'd seen George Wendt in "recently" and I only recently realised. He was in the Only Fools spin off with Boycie and Marlene. Almost as iconic a role.

RIP George.

One of those super dependable guys that played with almost everyone, and familiar here as the guy that wrote and played on Hogan's "Real American" entrance music.

Alf Clausen, composer on virtually all of the music on The Simpsons between 1990 and 2017 for which he won two Primetime Emmys as well as working on The Naked Gun, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Moonlighting among others, has passed away aged 84

Very esoteric memory, but I'd taped something off the TV in the nineties and it included an advert for Hell Hath No Fury, a pretty awful TV movie starring Swit as a scorned woman. This is from the Carlton region (I was in the Central region), but the advert is in the video below. My mates and I used to get a laugh out of her "What are you looking at?!" line before she hits a mirror. I seem to recall Clive James putting the nineties spotlight on her too on his show. Obviously a star, and funnily enough married to a guy called Holahan, but with her moments.

Fucking hell. I was just talking with a mate the other day about how so many of the people who voiced characters on the show - Luanne, Lucky, Dale - had died. That's a pretty damn terrible way to go, too.

Colin Jerwood from Anarcho punk band Conflict.

In a genre often accused of being full of posers cos playing at it, Conflict and Colin lived and practiced what they preached.

I never saw him play a live set that was less than incendiary.

I shall be playing There's No Power Without Control shortly.

That hits really hard, Conflict and Crass are two bands i hold dearly and i was truly hoping to catch Conflict live but things never lined up (I had tickets to a cancelled US tour a few years  back) As Just some Guy said, he practiced what he preached and never lost his fire over the years. RIP
