Merzbow Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 I was going to joke and say The Happiness of the Katakuris but it's actually a very funny musical.. Quote

A proper one, usually Singing in the Rain or The Wizard of Oz, something like that. I do fancy a change this year. What can people recommend? If you want a proper one Surf, Anything Goes is on the BBC iPlayer. It doesn't get much more proper than Sutton Foster playing Reno Sweeney. Quote
Paid Members waters44 Posted December 17, 2023 Author Paid Members Posted December 17, 2023 Can honestly say the only musical I’ve ever really enjoyed is CBeebies Thumbelina. It’s on iPlayer Quote

I saw it last night, it’s good! The songs weren’t my favourite part of it but they’re decent and Chalamet can hold a tune. It’s got that same Paul King aesthetic from the Paddington films that you’d want (in terms of visuals and in terms of tone), and the cast are all really enjoyable. It’s not on the level of either Paddington, but if you liked those, and can tolerate musicals, you’ll have fun. Quote

Paid Members gmoney Posted December 17, 2023 Paid Members Posted December 17, 2023 It's got more than a note of diegetic music in it, and by Chris B's rules this makes it a swinging, bombastic full on musical. Quote
