Really good show this week I thought. Outside of the Matt Hardy match and Joey Janela without a shirt on I enjoyed everything.

The lumberjack match is the type of match 12 year old me would have gone bananas for. I really hope they make an effort to capture a younger audience as some of their acts are just perfect for kids.

Orange Cassidy posing in sun glasses and a blood spattered tshirt is perfect pro wrestling.

That video package gave off very strong gay vibes for Best Friends and Omega/Page which was a bit weird and seemed intentional almost. Absolutely love the Page/Omega team, it's made both men in my eyes. Looking forward to seeing how it goes when they have a Bucks rematch and face FTR.

Also the Dark Order stuff is working all of a sudden. Really liking this story with Cabana.

Pumped for Fyter Fest. Though there's definitely too many tag matches and I think Archer in a handicap match with Janela and Kiss would have worked better.

Kip Sabian and his broken shades was an unexpected highlight.

Maybe it's just me but FTR have been bland as fuck so far. Happy to see the Lucha Bros back though.

Enjoyed the video packages, even the cheesy Kiss/Joey one though that was mostly because of the Johnny Cage style nut shot.

Britt Baker was obviously another highlight.

Matt Hardy should be kept in tag matches and his match was by far the low point of the show this week.

Have they ever really had anything about them other than putting on decent matches? Like I get it. They're very good at being old school tag team specialists and they can put on strong matches, but they've never really had much of a personality between them.

They've always been Bland to me, never really got the fascination over them and the excitement of them joining AEW.

Sure they are good wrestlers and put on good matches but that's about it with them for me

WWE admittedly didnt book them great all the time and the couple of times they got injured was unfortunate but I think they did ok for themselves in WWE really, couple of title wins and featured regularly at times.

I've never really seen them as having these huge personalities that were just waiting to shine through in a better environment

Part of it is a long-running thing on Being The Elite.

Basically, at some point, they referred to themselves as the best tag team on the planet, which The Young Bucks took as an insult. Cody, as a result, made 'Fuck The Revival' his new catchphrase. WWE eventually stopped The Elite from referring to their IP, which included 'Too Sweet', 'Fuck The Revival' and, supposedly, 'Cody Rhodes'.

It led to a great bleeped Cody rant, along the lines of "I can't say 'F*** *** ******' anymore? Fuck that! That's my gimmick! What else do I have? I'm the F*** *** ****** guy! They've taken everything! I wake up, oh, you're not Cody R***** any more, you're just Cody! I don't have a last fucking name! You can't be Cody R*****, you can't say F*** *** ******'"

So it's been clear they're all good friends and have a similar approach to things. It's not so much that they're a huge get - just that they're really solid hands who clearly really wanted to be there.

Did that lucha brothers reveal feel off to any one else? For all the talk of wwe over producing everything they would have perfectly nailed the camera pull back after the butcher and the blade challenged ftr, and they would have turned into the attack, instead they just kind of noticed the lucha bros and stood awkwardly facing them and had to ignore the other team challenging them to a match.......

Only seen the YouTube, which they could have edited post show, but was clear they looked at them then ignored them being there

Another great episode, I was hesitant about AEW back in October, thinking it would be too indyriffic for me. The tongue in cheek, peek behind the curtain, comedy stuff has never been for me.

And whilst that is there, there is such a variety on the show that I really don't mind it. Two hosses battling in the opener, enjoyable tag, interesting video packages, quick squash and a good brawl at the end.... What more can one want from 2 hours of TV wrestling?

For me it's also the little things like Britt and Tony's interactions, kip sabian glasses, using the lumberjacks to develop undercard stories that really sets it apart from how I remember Raw being a couple of years ago (last time I really watched).

Even the cock ups like the Lucha Bros reveal don't hurt it for me as it gives things a live, gritty feel.

Last October I bought the fite TV pass mostly out of morbid curiosity, expecting a car crash. Now Thursday 6-8pm is my dedicated AEW time that I genuinely look forward to. I never thought I'd set my watch to weekly wrestling TV ever again!

Big win for NXT this week (786k to 633k). Not sure why as there's been no discussion on here for me to read but it's a great result for them. AEW was a drab show last week and nothing much advertised to grab anyone which I'd suspect is the reason for their big drop.

Can't comment on NXT since I haven't watched it outside of the odd clip in ages.

Be interesting to see what numbers the Fyter Fest shows draw. They've pushed those pretty hard and it would no doubt be a big disappointment if those shows underperformed.

Saying that though it's good that both AEW and NXT are still pulling in over half a million viewers.

Probably all those Jimmy Havoc fans.

NXT having their big three way leading into the winner takes all may have explained a big shift in viewers, or at least some of the movement.

They've had plenty of other big matches in previous weeks and they've rarely made a dent.
