Big E posted overnight and seems to be in good spirits and able to move his fingers which is a good sign.

Reading that the name Butch could be a 'rib' because Ridge's real name is Luke and it's a play on The Bushwackers.

Even Dunne doesn’t seem enthused looking at his tweet.

This feels a bit different and more worrying than the Gunther change - This is a complete gimmick overhaul and he’s gone from being a unique individual presence to being…Spike Dudley. 

All they’ve done is damage his equity. You could quite easily bring him into the fold as Pete Dunne, the Bruiserweight. By all means give him Butch as a new, additional nickname and change his look over time - but at least take the audience on that journey with you. Even if people haven’t watched NXT or NXT UK, you build him up with video packages, all the ‘coming soon’ bollocks (he’s not Veer) and so forth. It really isn’t rocket science. 

I know he’s part of the older NXT contingent, but for anyone hoping for more consistency with any new NXT 2.0 call ups from this point, this is a development that isn’t going to fill people with much hope.

Dunne has the time and ability on his side to see it out. He has a young kid and the wwe renewal made sense when he did it. He’s probably got a year max with that idea before a release, he can then go be an asset other places

The dumb thing is 'Bruiserweight' Pete Dunne already fits seamlessly into that stable with 'Ridge Holland' and 'Sheamus'. Absolutely no need for such a silly change.

John Silver, Adam Cole etc must've been wetting themselves last night after months of 'Budge' on BTE.

Whatever you think of the, “Butch,” name, I’m flabbergasted at the amount of people asking “why not just call him Pete Dunne?” Take a look at what’s happening in AEW! That’s why!

In the last few months alone we’ve had Adam Cole, William Regal, CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, Keith Lee, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, all jumping ship, all being able to use the same name and/or music. It’s no wonder Vince wants better control on all this stuff. It must drive him crazy seeing guys he’s poured money into transferring seamlessly to his greatest competitor of the last twenty years. I bet he hit the fucking roof when that Hardy Boyz music hit on Wednesday.
