Considering the amount of different brands they have, with people "wild carding" all over the place, and an infinitely large roster, it gives people something to do, creates the potential to give midcard (and lower) wrestlers some kayfabe motivation and character development, and can pop the house show crowds by letting them see title changes. If they're sensible, they'll roll it out to having it defended on social media as well - YouTube videos, Facebook live, Instagram stories, really make it a true 24/7 title by not having to wait til the TV show airs to see it defended. Sometimes in Crash Holly-esque comedy segments, but why not occasionally do a single camera live stream of it being defended on a house show? You could sense the crowd were into it and would’ve popped huge if they’d just announced it as the Hardcore Title, revealing a smashed up pile of shit belt. The moment they tried to make it slick and polished was when the crowd started booing. Still, it at least gives the geeks something to do and opens up the potential for fun stuff outside of the arena. Drake Maverick is already filling his Twitter with daft videos. Have the champion on Facebook live, or streaming on Instagram, or even streaming playing video games on Twitch and have people attack them and win the belt. Have someone do the morning shows, or Jimmy Kimmell promoting a show, and get pinned by the host (the sort of thing that plays brilliantly for mainstream press). Fuck, have people win it on Up Up Down Down. There's plenty of mileage and innovative uses for this title, should they bother. Sadly, they likely won't. Hopefully if it gets defended in some unusual places it'll be banged up to fuck in a few months. More likely they'll forget it exists and stop writing segments for it.
