I thought Messi was largely anonymous until his best mate and water carrier came on and the quality of Argentina's aerial balls improved massively. I think that and the fragility of James and Rice forced Tuchel into playing the Dan Burn card and as much as I love the lunk, he shouldn't have been anywhere near this match. That's the biggest mistake for me. To be 1 up against a team that can be got at if you inject some pace and tempo (like the goal) and just sit back with 12% of possession for nearly 40 minutes is incomprehensible. It is genuinely baffling that's happened tonight. Fair play to Scaloni, he really nailed it. Quote

DavidB6937 Posted July 16 Posted July 16 As annoyed as I am with him and his stupid decision I think "win the World Cup or get sacked" would be a pretty hard stance to take. I'd be more inclined to get rid of him if they hadn't got out of the group stages or something. I don't think a year and a half is enough to call it off completely. I get it. We're a passionate bunch of fans with high expectations and that's every single tournament we ever play in. And yeah, he'll absolutely be getting shit right now, but as with anything if they go forward positively then he'll be forgiven. I also don't think it does the players any favours to start with someone new all over again unless there's a massive disconnect between them and the manager. Quote
