Unless you're saying that Celtic have to qualify for the CL proper and if they don't qualify they go into the EL? Again, I didn't know they had to qualify. Qualifying has kept the drop downs, probably fortunate to most Scottish teams this season. Edit: Celtic play off round, Hearts 2nd qualifying (they need to win 1 tie to guarantee league stage football), Rangers and Motherwell Conference League 2nd. If Dunfermline win the cup they go to EL play off ( I think). Edited May 16 by westlondonmist Quote

They never got rid of it in the qualifiers, it's just that arrogant English fans didn't notice it wasn't gone completely. @SpiritOfTheForest explained it more succinctly. They're not definitely in the group phase if that's what you mean. Quote
Paid Members SpiritOfTheForest Posted May 16 Paid Members Posted May 16 (edited) It's all about the coefficient. For the last couple of seasons, the winner of SPFL has gone directly into the Champions League group stage. A couple of years of pish results means that from next season, we need a playoff to qualify. There's a great X account if you're a bit of a statto that tracks all this called Edited May 16 by SpiritOfTheForest Quote

I didn't expect them to beat Falkirk in the semi but they did. St Mirren could relegate but they comfortably won the League cup final. Celtic also struggled past a non league side in the cup. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted May 16 Paid Members Posted May 16 Celtic has always been the second team in my family due to the Irish connection, but even I would’ve liked to have seen a new winner today just for a change up. Funny though. Still hoping for the day Hibs become the top dogs. Quote
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted May 16 Paid Members Posted May 16 Saw a post on X that said that the FA Cup final had been 'absolutely mogged' by the SPL today, which should get a chuckle out of anyone vaguely familiar with nonsense social media vernacular. Quote

Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted May 16 Paid Members Posted May 16 I want to make it very clear that I don't care about any other league than the one Millwall are in. That's usually the Championship, or sometimes League 1. With everything else I'm taking the piss, but it does seem I have triggered some Sweaties with my disparaging jokes at the expense of what is undoubtedly the finest sporting league north of Hadrian's Wall. Well second best. After the curling obviously. Quote

Well second best. After the curling obviously. Not triggered. its just that your comments in particular are incredibly tired, deeply unfunny and contribute absolutely nothing worthwhile whatsoever. Quite happy for anyone to take the piss but please at least try to make it somewhat amusing. Quote

Oh, I was talking about the competitions proper. Not the second out of thirty-eight qualifying rounds that starts in June where paperboys hope to play farmers in the third round. Quote
Ironic Indie Lad Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Enough about Scottish football now please. It’s over. It was almost exciting for a while and Hearts blew it. Back to the same teams winning all the time due to their huge financial advantages. Moving on, congratulations to Manchester City on winning the FA Cup! Quote
