He was 15 points behind, having to come out of retirement and deal with the mess left by Rodgers and Nancy. Winning the league is pretty normal for the club and is less of an achievement, but St Martin is fantastic.

Quite a weird thread recently.

Scottish football not worth caring about apparently. Then there’s a lot of interest and posts and the various FARMERS LEAGUE, MICKEY MOUSE LEAGUE LOL posts come up.

I wouldn’t come in here and post “lmao who the fuck cares about West Brom?????”. Just skip past the posts.

Genuinely makes me think it’s not even worth posting on here

Well it does actually, but most of the discussion in this thread has this season has mostly been great, balanced and informative, so it's more than welcome.

I would go one further and say that some posters' attitude to Scotland/Scottish football is belittling, insulting and indeed even colonialist in tone at times. I distinctly remember a couple of years ago that it was deemed acceptable to call us "porridge wogs" which well...speaks for itself. Yes we realise that Celtic and Rangers would be crushed by Manchester City and Liverpool (not Spurs though) in a league system but the dismissive attitude to our football (farmers league lolz) got old about 15 years ago.  Pish behaviour.

They didn't. It was eight points after the 3-1 loss at Tynecastle - cut down to 6 after the 4-0 win against Falkirk on O'Neill's first game back.

No idea when this number has come from. After Nancy was sacked in January following the loss to Rangers, Celtic were just six points behind. It was three points after O'Neill came back!

On that note, Celtic are guaranteed at least the Europa League group phase next season, so they've got European football until the end of January whatever happens.

Hearts, as runners-up, now enter the Champions League in the second qualifying round and could potentially lose three two-legged qualifying ties in a row and miss out on that sweet league stage money altogether.

Not going to lie, seeing English football fans bawling all over social media bawling over this is making it all the more fun for me. 

Interesting stuff has happened this year in Scottish football this season anyway. St Mirren won the league cup, Dunfermline could win the cup (Aberdeen won it at the end of last season) . We've also seen a really really different approach from teams in Scotland to Celtic and Rangers. Teams haven't set up 10 behind the ball, either writing the game off or playing for a draw. Hearts, Hibs, Motherwell, Falkirk, Dundee have gone to these matches wanting all the points. If you look past the end result it's actually been a really interesting season. I imagine many of the coaches continue this way and hope they do.

I would like to add that it genuinely delights me that no-one, and I mean no-one, is talking about the garbage FA Cup final between Chelsea and City today. I still have a lot of affinity for the tournament but I don't think I've been less interested in a final than this afternoon's.

Yes and no. For TV contractual purposes, they're technically in the competition proper, but I think the "Play-off round" in August is still regarded by most fans as a qualifier in all but name.

If they lose they do still drop into the Europa, contrary to what Raidy claimed the other week that "parachuting" had been abolished.

Was very much hoping Chelsea would be taken to extra time and pens ahead of Tuesday but their defence and midfield looked knackered at the end, so I'll take that small bit of hope I guess*

We have a play off for entry to the Champions League and, should we lose that, we drop into the Europa League group stage.

Sorry, so they're reintroducing CL teams dropping into the EL again then? I didn't know that.

Unless you're saying that Celtic have to qualify for the CL proper and if they don't qualify they go into the EL? Again, I didn't know they had to qualify.
