Paid Members SpiritOfTheForest Posted May 16 Paid Members Posted May 16 (edited) The sweetest title win I can remember. So far behind and clawing it back at the death. That last goal with Hearts ballsing up the free kick and giving us 3 players storming up the park to an empty net almost felt like it went into slow motion. With the mess that Wilfried Nancy made of things, it's utterly remarkable that Martin O'Neill has dragged this team to such a satisfying victory. Build the statue. God bless Martin O'Neill. I'm supposed to watch Torres in the playout this evening...fuck knows how I'll still be standing by then! Edit: I do sympathise with Hearts supporters but GIRUY Derek McInnes. Ironic Indie Lad Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Amazing achievement for Martin O’Neill. Walked into a mess twice, steadied the ship twice and won another league title in his 70s. A great man. Quote

Ironic Indie Lad Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Only interesting thing? Talking utter nonsense. Rangers were liquidated less than 20 years ago. Quote

He got no support from the board in January. Quote

Yes, it was a real struggle with all those players earning multiple times over what their title challengers were. Any Celtic fan is well within their rights to be delighted today, but let’s do away with the “against all odds” narrative, eh? It’s not a monumental achievement. It’s par for the course. Quote

The only remarkable thing is that Nancy managed to fuck things up. Pretty much every Celtic player individually cost more than the entire Hearts squad did combined. There’s gulf in resources between the sides means the only team that deserves plaudits here is Hearts. Quote
BarryOVega Posted May 16 Posted May 16 How come the Mickey Mouse league doesn’t have its own thread? Some of these takes are laughable, it is absolutely no achievement at all for Celtic to win the title with the financial advantages and the dodgy decisions in their favour They’ll do fuck all in Europe next season as usual so what’s the point? It’s like playing season mode on FIFA on the easiest setting Quote
Paid Members SpiritOfTheForest Posted May 16 Paid Members Posted May 16 Just to lay out the scale of the job Martin O'Neill has done here: when he initially came back as caretaker after the departure of Brendan Rodgers, Hearts had a 10 point lead. He cut that down to just a couple of points. Nancy came in and we all know what a disaster that was. After we finally got rid of him, the gap between Celtic and Hearts had become 13 points. O'Neill came back again and won the league today. If anything, Hearts have bottled it. Don't know how anyone can dismiss this win as being easy or a cake walk - yes Celtic have more money but have got pretty much everything wrong in several transfer windows now. Spending money on dross still means you have dross. O'Neill's work has been miraculous. I love that man - build the statue. Also, got a chuckle out of this image from the other side of Edinburgh.
