What would be the most fun real-life Football Manager challenge you could take on if you were Pep? Get Morecambe into the Premier League? Win a European Trophy with Aberdeen? Win Serie A with Sampdoria? Get San Marino to the Euros? Not many managers who have the time and credentials to just set their own work. Would love to see something outside the box. FWIW, I think his next job is the Spanish national team. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted May 19 Author Members Posted May 19 He went to see Stockport vs Port Vale recently didn't he? Whack him in charge of one of those two. I'll miss Pep, he is by far my favourite unhinged manager and this ALWAYS makes me laugh. More than you know. Quote

Ironic Indie Lad Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Wonder how that changes summer transfers. If you were Elliot Anderson for example and 2-3 big clubs were coming for you, the opportunity to be coached by Guardiola probably enough to swing it in City's favour (if we assume wages on offer are fairly similar*). Maresca did ok at Chelsea considering he had to work within the baffling BlueCo framework. He may well turn out to be a world class coach but he doesn't have anywhere near the same pull. *joke about 115 charges, money under the table etc. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted May 19 Paid Members Posted May 19 (edited) I've often wondered if Pep is exclusively a "Ferrari" manager - just as you have managers who are best suited to being firemen, perhaps his best work only happens with a big budget and access to elite-level players (not something every manager can do). Perhaps he's not the kind of guy who can get Leyton Orient to the Premier League. Edited May 19 by Carbomb Luis Figo Quote
Ironic Indie Lad Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Speaking of managers, Most clubs now refer to the boss as the Head Coach rather than the Manager. I assume this is because they have to work within a system alongside the director of football etc. The days of Fergie seemingly having almost total control obviously long gone. Interesting that Chelsea have specifically announced that Alonso is the new manager rather than the new head coach. Makes me wonder if he has been given a far bigger scope than Maresca, Rosenior, Potter and so on. Quote

Ironic Indie Lad Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Both very bald but not as bald as Ten Hag or Slot. Makes you think. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted May 19 Paid Members Posted May 19 Interesting head shape. It's like he's got a flesh coloured kippah on. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted May 19 Posted May 19 I like Pep and would take him over Slot in a heartbeat but here’s to hoping he saw the writing on the wall with the 115 charges and wanted out before he’d look like a bastard for leaving when they’re bummed down to the Vauxhall Conference. Quote

Got a couple tickets through work so me and a mate planning to go, as a neutral just hoping the match gets played Saturday as wont go if it ends up a night game or something, but assume if Southampton are hoyed out it'll be delayed (if Boro are replacing them), or cancelled altogether if they send you boys up! No, only that it may not be today that we find out now. It's an absolute nightmare. Got 37,000 people with match tickets, fans with train tickets, plan tickets, hotels booked, fans desperately needing to book trains, planes or hotels and holding off. Horrific situation caused by someone's need to win at all costs. Bastards. Quote
