deathrey Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I used to watch a lot of Grey's Anatomy (because I love medical dramas and there wasn't that many around at the time, but I don't really recommend it) Eric Dane was such a presence in the show, and was physically so strong, its so sad the way ALS ravaged him and the speed it happened at. Mostly known for Revenge of the Nerds, he appeared in loads of films and tv shows. He was a member of the Carradine acting family, and concentrated mainly on comedy roles, and was very good at it. Apparently suffered with a bi-polar disorder for a number of years. Very sad. Quote

He was fantastic and just seemed a really funny, lovely guy. By all accounts it's been a 2 decade or so struggle with bipolar which you hope he has finally found some peace in. Will be looking for a watch of Revenge of the Nerds this evening I think. Quote

Paid Members johnnyboy Posted February 28 Paid Members Posted February 28 Not the standard choice of my contemporaries, but one of my favourite albums growing up was Neil Sedaka's Greatest Hits ("Timeless" with the orange cover). "Oh, Carol" is the one everyone knows, but my favourite was always "I Go Ape" where he beat the shit out of those piano keys. I missed what would turn out to be his final tour over here in the 10s which I will eternally regret now, but I will always have lovely memories of him helping us through the lockdowns. Most days he would perform a "mini concert" as he billed them. It was him at his piano in his home telling a little tale about how a song was written, or which of his showbiz chums had recorded it, and then he would play and sing a bit to put some joy back in to the world. It was one of the regular things to look forward to that helped me stay sane. Breaking up is hard to do Quote

He'd just gone through all the legal stuff with Doug Naylor as well, and therebwas going to be new Rew Dwarf stuff coming out. I remember watching an episode of Red Dwarf with my Gran when I was about 10 and being fascinated by it. I don't think I missed an episode after that. Definitely time for another trot through the show again. I'd not long since finished a listen to Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers and Better Than Life on Audible as well, and if I was on dispatch at work I'd often put the Radio 4/7 version with the sound effects and score on Audible to get through my shift.
