He gave so many incredible performances in so many amazing films, but my favourite will always be Mac Sledge in Tender Mercies. It is simply perfect and deservedly won him the Best Actor Oscar. Might have to pop on a Duvall tonight, lads. RIP. Quote

I love him in Gone In Sixty Seconds too- he steals every scene he's in with a believable and likeable warmth. What an incredible career. Quote

If you're truly interested in the medium I would recommend just about everything he made. I particularly recommend High School, Hospital and Ex Libris: The New York Public Library. In an era of the Netflixisation of documentaries, his work has to endure. Quote

SaitoRyo Posted February 18 Posted February 18 The very tall and imposing actor Tom Noonan has passed away at 74. Probably best known for playing menacing villains, especially the antagonist in Michael Mann's excellent Manhunter. I'm guessing a lot of people on here will know him from Robocop 2, but he showed up in a bunch of stuff, including as a child killer who gets inside Mulder's head in the X-Files episode Paper Hearts (a role written specifically for him). Just a really good working actor who had a bit of menace about him. Always enjoyed seeing him unexpectedly pop up in this or that. RIP. Quote

The whole performance is scary but the image of him, hood up, walking up the stairs in the auditorium following Danny always creeped me out. Like @SaitoRyo says, just an air of menace to him. Quote
