As far as I know, one of the original shock jocks who had a phone in show on Piccadilly Radio (261mw) in the mid 70’s. Used to listen to him as I went to sleep slinging abuse at people which is probably how I turned out like I have…. Very entertaining guy. Quote

I always preferred James H. Reeve but his funny hour before he talked about serious stuff every night was listened to by pretty much everyone in our sixth form. Quote

At school it was considered quite the achievement if you managed to get through to his show and get your expletives (or other nonsense) to air before being cut off. Pre-internet trolling. I was always too much of a good boy to do it myself though. I've been a night owl my entire adult life and I blame it on my formative years listening to late night talk shows like his into the early hours. Quote

He'd had a rough time of it the last few years, but he was the heart and soul of that club, and of Hull's music scene. A proper local legend. Quote

Because she isd a lot of playback singing, I'm still discovering that certain songs I've heard a million times belong to her. Both her and her sister were extremely talented singers. She was one of the most memorable voices of my New Agey teen years, and I think there are a lot of people who remember the famous theme from Harry's Game. This one's hit me a bit, especially knowing she'd had her demons, but considering that, 73's not a bad innings. Sure, little sister Enya carved out a solo career for herself, but Moya had one of the most distinctive voices of the era. I don't think you get the Celtic boom of the 90s without Clannad. RIP. Quote

I didn't know whether to pop this in here or the football thread, Manninger is a bit of a cult hero among a lot of the Arsenal fans I know, myself included. I remember seeing him play for us when Seaman was injured when I was a kid and thinking he did a great job for a stretch, was always surprised he didn't go on to more. Had also not realised how young he must have been at the time either. RIP. Quote
