Back in the early 2010s when it was expensive but not shockingly expensive, we used to get some of the Dirty stuff. The prices they charge now though the place deserves to go under. Con artists.

We had a pretty good Christmas. The highlight for me was my four year and how much he enjoyed it. For context he is autistic and often (but not all) autistic kids don't really get the social convention of present opening and last year he wasn't interested at all.

This year was completely different. In the morning whilst we were waiting for my brother to arrive so we could open the presents, he was knocking on the living room door and shouting for Santa to let him in - he is pre-verbal (so talks but uses a lot of copied phrases from songs, books and TV shows but out of context) so this was huge. When he got in there he was really excited about opening the presents and kept saying 'what's in the box?' and trying to unwrap them which again is huge for him, and he played with all the toys after opening them rather than being completely uninterested in them like last year. It was so lovely and really made my day. His favourites were a giant Hungry Caterpillar book and a sensory giant cow space hopper, which he has been playing with all morning today as well.

This is gonna be a rough Christmas. I thought I finally got a new job after months of searching only to lose out at the final hurdle on Friday. The straw that broke the camels back of my mental health which has been on the rocks for the last few months. I’d even discussed with my wife the idea of spending Christmas Day alone at her mums while her, my wife and kids had their usual very saccharine and fun Christmas because I felt so miserable. But when I discussed with my daughter she wouldn’t have it, so I’m going to do my best to try and enjoy the day through her eyes.

But this isn’t about me, Christmas is the Baby Jesus’ birthday, so what finer way to sign this of than to combine 2 of my favourite things, this silly little place and wrestling, as well as the main guy himself with this clip of Jesus dealing out a whooping in the ring.

Sorry to hear the job stuff didn't work out. Stay the line, it will work out. Thanks for all the outings this year, perhaps not enough. More cinema trips in 2025 eh? 

Hope your Christmas worked out in the end. 

Ours was a great feast (of course), lots of games, gifts and silliness. Excellent stuff. 

Oh and how good was BBC telly this year? Very good, I tell you. 

Today I completed Castlevania I for the first time. Savescummed and proud. Very satisfying.

@johnnyboy is simply one of the nicest humans. We chat often offline and he's just beyond reproach. Knighthood required I think. As mentioned above @Hannibal Scorchis a similarly great dude and far more sound than his AEW-obsessed persona. @JNLister, @HarmonicGeneratorand I have had some great chats this year and I look forward to more. @Carbombis also one of my favourite people on here. 

@RedTwosteris an absolute ray of light in the gaming threads. Brilliant work. It's great to see @JLMin these parts again, never fails to raise a smile (one of the last RIMmers standing), and @Supremois out here doing the lord's work with all the wrestling he recaps so I don't have to watch it. 

And @FLipsand @tiger_rickhave been really inspiring to me this year. Thanks guys.

Hope everyone had a great Xmas. Ours was up and down, if I'm honest, but we keep on.

Continuing the tradition of forgetting something with lunch, I found a bag of honey glazed parsnips in the freezer last night. Still, no-one seemed to miss them.

I got a double air fryer, which I'm ridiculously excited about.

Had a pretty quiet one with the family. Just the 3 of us but was a nice day. Made amazing beef in the slow cooker overnight and had Turkey as well. Was way too much food for the 3 of us but was great. Then Boxing Day me and the boys did our usual pub crawl so I’m feeling a bit ropey today. A couple of hours and I’ll be back in the game! Hope you all had a good one!

Air fryers are great and are an absolute game changer but nothing will ever top the £15 deep fat fryer I got during lockdown and ate like a fat bastard king for a summer before my Mrs made me throw it out because I made everything smell of chip fat.

The thing is every air fryer chips recipe that claims to come close to proper deep fat fryer chips is just lying. I do like my air fryer but I’ve honestly debated a proper fryer just for chips a couple of times.

if you get the right frozen chips and nail the timings, you can get VERY nice chips- not quite like deep fried ones but good none the less.

I go for lidl frozen French fries and about 12 minutes - shake them halfway though and don't put too many in at once.

Yeah same. Lidl’s frozen or McCain’s frozen chunky chips. Great but no competition for the real thing.
