I’ll preface this by saying this was almost certainly intended as a shot at AEW, and followed by Triple H giving himself a mental high five; but taking the comment at face value, while it sounds like typical WWE-babble, I don’t think it’s entirely inaccurate or even an illegitimate strategy.

An example would be when LA Knight got hugely over - he was given a title match against Roman Reigns. Knight is very unlikely to ever have a great match, yet they followed the crowd response to give him the opportunity of that big match against Roman.

Jade Cargill’s recent title win would be another example, same goes for Nia Jax’s run on top. Bray Wyatt’s whole career was built around his character as opposed to his match ability.

In short, I think it’s fair to say that this is something they do. And I also note that he didn’t say ‘based on the great story’ they can create.

"When I lost to whoever" the reason why Rusev couldn't think of anyone other than Danielson and Sammy was because those were the only two jobs he did in FIVE YEARS.

no idea how it comes across on TV, but looking on Cagematch he's lost more matches since returning to WWE in May than in the entire time he was in AEW, though a lot of those losses have been in dark matches, on house shows, or multi-man matches. I never really here him talked about as doing anything interesting, so I tend to forget he ever came back.

But also, if he wrestles ten more matches this year, then he's wrestled the same number of matches in this WWE run as he did the entire time he was in AEW.

Job Watch Headquarters can confirm that both Rusev and Aleister Black are a pair of snivelling chumps, who’ve proven themselves to be infinitely more willing to lose provided it’s in a Fed ring. Both have been doing jobs like they’re going out of fashion since rejoining WWE.

I was amused to read Rusev in an interview this week, talking about how he and Lana had a break in their relationship, and although he went on a few dates with other women, it never led to sex. I’m not surprised. The only person he’s willing to lie down for is Hunter Hearst Helmsley!

One day, there’ll be a deep dive on the weird brain worms lads like Rusev, Black and The Hurt Syndicate had when moving from WWE to AEW. Felt above it all. Refused to do jobs. Yet never once benefitted because of it. It’s crazy when you compare them to wrestlers like Ricochet and Swerve, who seem far more willing to take losses and eat shit when it’s required, yet have become wildly more successful than they ever were in WWE.

Speaking of Rusev, speaking on the Shak Wrestling podcast;

”Rusev addressed circulating rumors claiming he refused to do jobs in AEW, firmly denying them. He said, “There’s a lot of rumors out there, but the problem is that a lot of these rumors are spread by one person, by these dirt sheets, so-called dirt sheets… They have no evidence, no proof, right? They just can go out there, run a story … and nothing can be traced back to them.” He emphasized that judging his AEW run proves the rumors false, pointing out several losses that contradict the claims, stating, “Clearly when I lost [the title to] to Sammy Guevara, that didn’t make any sense. When I lost to [Bryan Danielson] right after, that didn’t make any sense. When I lost to whoever … So let the people go back and review whatever and we can talk about that.”

There’s just one issue. There was no whoever. They were the only loses he had in AEW.
